Hahaha Korenglish- the same things have happened to me. I'll be talking to people who claim to LOVE Broadway and are Wicked fanatics and I'll ask them if they like Stephen Sondheim and no lie, people have asked me if he was playing Fiyero or something. It pretty much kills me.

I agree, if you don't have flawless belt like Idina don't even bother with Wicked. I think the not doing a song from a show on Broadway currently is a great rule of thumb. My biggest successes in casting were from doing songs from shows like Chess, Pirates of Penzance and Bat Boy: The Musical which aren't done to death.

Am I cut out to spend my time this way?

you all seem pretty knowledgeable concerning how and how not to audition, so I'd just like to ask for an opinion: I want to audition for Seussical for the Cat in the Hat, do you think 'Suppertime' from YAGMCB would be appropriate or is it one of the overkill shows? Thanks!

Canadians are not afraid of the dark! Ok...we don't love it, but who does?

"it was sad."

What? that someone sang a Millie song at J&H audition (that just makes no sense, stylisticly) or that you were auditioning for J&H?

when ducks grow thumbs then maybe my opinion will change.

I've had this problem with people singing Phantom of the Opera as well. Then they proceed to talk about how great an OPERA it is. Arg! It hurts. Wicked to a lesser extent, and RENT to an even lesser extent. Other than those, no one knows any other musicals around here. :/
