Grrr about the apparently Emma-less episode. I'm much more invested in that character than any other.
...Okay, I also love Sue a lot.

Okay, this week's plot kind of had nothing to do with anything in any other episode... but the one Sue bit and Kurt's bit at the end still made me cry.
^^^Me too. I seriously cried like a baby when she visited her sister.
-I'm kind of glad that we took a break from the Emma-Schuester-Ken drama. I love the story lines with the kids much more!
-Artie is one of my favorite characters. I love how they actually gave him a story line. I love his voice out of the guys the most. The end with Tina made me ridiculously sad. Artie seems like such a nice guy! I am such a sucker for drama/romance. I also liked how we got to learn more about them.
-I was seriously crying at the part with Sue & her sister. Not even kidding. Such a sweet moment. And at the end with Kurt & his dad. Ahh I'm such a baby :P
ETA: tosfan, I love your Sondheim quote :)
People calling Defying Gravity horrible obviously haven't heard what horrible sounds like. I thought both of them sounded great. The arrangement is what was not so great about the song but it was far from horrible. Theatre people tend to be over dramatic about things. Gotta love it..lol

The unevenness of the writing just doesn't bother me. The annoying parts are really insignificant compared to the quality of the writing and performing of characters like Artie, Kurt, Sue and Puck. And Emma. And some of the other smaller plotlines too.
I agree about "Defying Gravity." It isn't fantastic, but it isn't the worst I have ever heard. Now, I didn't like "Dancing With Myself." It definitely looked better in context with the show, but I'm just not impressed with the music. Artie is a pretty good singer though.
I still don't like version of Defying Gravity.
Kurt sounds horrible singing it & sounds too fake.
I totally cried during this episode. Twice. It was great!
Artie definitely had my favorite line of the night. HILARIOUS.

Agreed! No major plots resolved, but some really wonderful moments for Artie and Kurt! The Sue thing...not sure how I feel about it. Very sweet but...kind of out of the blue. But it was nice to discover that the actress playing Tina has a great voice! I hope we hear from her more in the future! "Proud Mary" was so fun
I am so tired of Rachel getting everything she wants. Actually, I am just tired of her damn character.
That said, Kurt and Artie are my two favorite people in this show.

They weren't going to be able to get one wheelchair to sectionals, but they're gonna be able to get twelve?
Ha ha, Phyl.
I like Kurt as a character but I didn't enjoy his Defying Gravity at ALL.

It's hard to tell with all the autotuning, but it didn't seem like he was really singing that high.
Q was was the worst in this episode, ugh! Loved the scenes btwn Kurt and his dad and I loved how his dad went down to the school. I was very excited to hear Tina sing again and really really hope she gets more singing parts. Oh yeah, Puck just gets hotter and hotter with each episode!
snl89, once again I am in total agreement with you - Sue & Kurt were awesome on this episode!
And Evie........couldn't agree more on the Puck hotness factor!!!
Defying Gravity's tessitura sits pretty high for most of the song, so while I liked Kurt's performance, it sounds like an effort for him, while Rachel's more of a natural for the song. When I heard them both on the Glee soundtrack, I thought they'd compromised in the plot and let them both take the solo.

I finally saw Cory on Chelsea Lately...how adorable was he?
Cool shout out to Miss Ross tonight.
Is Matt gay?
I loved the show tonight, BTW.
I literally had tears running down my cheeks during the final song.
Is Matt gay?
I don't think so. Wasn't he engaged to some soap star but cheated on her?
