Marvel's big question mark of a movie now has a trailer.
I'm loving the tone, and Pratt looks like he's going to own this.
Groot and Rocket Raccoon both look fantastic, as does the makeup effects on Zoe Saldana and Dave Bautista.
I just went from curious to kind of excited for this.
Hooked on a feeling
Pratt looks hot. But he always looks hot.
Pratt looks FIERCE.
I am so ready for a Marvel film less gorged on self-satisfied bombast. Count me in!
How many Marvel based films are up for release this year? Really when does enough become enough!
Captain America 2
Guardians
Both of those are part of the Disney/Marvel phase 2 series of films.
Separately there is also:
Spider Man 2
X-Men 7
According to IMDb:
The Amazing Spider-Man 2--2014
Guardians of the Galaxy--2014
Ant-Man--2015
Guardians of the Galaxy 2--2016
The Amazing Spider-Man --2018
ETA: Plus what Taz said...
insane.
but in saying that i will most likely see them all.
2015 also has:

The Fantastic Four

Fantastic Four is my Ur-comic--my gateway to the Marvel Universe, which was all there was for me; I never cared for DC.
Maybe it was inevitable that the Hulk's story-line would appeal to the little proto-gay boy, but at the time, all I knew was that I loved the F4, and I've felt a possessive disappointment in the 2 attempts at Hulk so far--especially 'The Incredible Hulk'.
I SO hope that the third time is the charm.
Does anyone know if this is more of a movie of the 2008 Guardians of the Galaxy comic series, or the original stories? They didn't get their own series until the 90's, but appeared in other series even in the 70's?
I'm unfamiliar with these characters, but the link below may answer your question.
It details the basic plot and villains. If you know the comics you may be able to pick up on which "version" they're going with.

Addison don't forget X-Men: Days of Future Past and another X-Men film in 3 more years, I believe. Of course, like Spider-Man, these aren't part of the Marvel "Universe" films, being owned by a different studio (apparently since Fox owns Fantastic Four, aside from X-Men, and did so badly with those the plan is to reboot those and mesh them with X-Men too.)
I'm not as in love with the Marvel Studios interconnected films (not to mention tv series) as many comic book fans are, but I do like that with Galaxy they are expanding to the even weirder space stories from the comics, and the trailer looks fun.
That said this is being written and directed by the screenwriter of Scooby-Doo (and its sequel.) He also did the previous off-beat superhero films The Specials and Super both of which I thought held potential but didn't work at all (I know both have rabid fans, though, and to be fair he did the B-Movie homage Slither which was kinda fun...)
(If this site allowed me to edit, I would--I see now that the X-Men movies have been mentioned. Twice.)
I will say that I do completely agree with Addi's comment that this looks refreshing in at least that it's does seem to be the first Marvel movie to not take itself so seriously (and no, random one liners from Robert Downey Jr don't count.)
^^Ha! I had that argument with myself when I was writing my previous post, thinking that, "well--Iron Man is kind of witty."
Honestly, though, his wit always strikes me as being so soaked in self-satisfaction that it just contributes to the problem.

I do not care to see another superhero movie again, because there is nothing left for any one of them to say. (Of course, that doesn't stop the marketeers from starting the same stories over from the beginning, again and again.) However, I like the looks of this one.

I agree that this one looks fun, and I am a huge fan of Chris Pratt, so I'm ready to see this.
I'm not sure that the Guardians qualify as 'Superheroes', though. I'd categorize them more in the Space Cowboy genre, no?
Other than his killer abs, I believe the only "enhancement" that Peter Quill/Star Lord has is an embedded translator--a basic continuity-solver for a character whose story requires them to interact with various "alien" types.
Add Disney's November animated feature, Big Hero 6 to the Marvel adaptations list.
I forgot about the animated one. That's not being tied into the Avengers franchise though, is it? This is (somehow...)
As for it being superhero, I've read very few of the comics but some of the characters like Grott or whatever treeman is called have been around since the 60s and have interacted with the various superheros (mind you Marvel has crossed over nearly every single character at some point, so...)
I'm predisposed to being more interested in Cap 2 because it is based on one of my favorite comic book runs ever, but this looks awesome. I'm getting 80s John Carpenter vibes with Pratt in a Roddy Piper/Kurt Russell kind of leading role.
Honestly, I'd like a comic book movie that is a little more space cowboy/fantasy. Never read any of the GOTG but I think it's pretty bold not just to give James Gunn that budget but also make those kind of casting choices (I mean, even John C. Reilly and Peter Serafinowicz as the remedial baddies are pretty interesting) with something that weird. It makes me kind of glad Marvel doesn't have its hands on X-Men/Fantastic Four/Spiderman. I am not sure if those properties were still owned directly by them and not Sony/Fox that this and Edgar Wright's Ant-Man would be made.
I've yet to see a Fantastic Four or Spiderman movie I like.
The new one looks promising though.
I liked the first Spider-Man movie
LOVED the second
HATED the third
and was "meh" about the reboot (The new looks to fall in the same category)
and other than getting to look at Chris Evans with his shirt off, both F4 movies didn't do anything for me either.
The movie is based on the 2008 run by Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning, which was part of a larger, several years long exploration into the cosmic side of Marvel. They're some of the best comics I've ever read. I'm also so intensely biased because they were initially shared with me by my late brother, so it's hard not to want to mash them in everyone's faces until they love them as much as I do.
Needless to say, I am beyond thrilled for this movie, especially because it's the kind of more minor entity in the larger Marvel IP that I never would have guessed in a million years would have gotten a film.

I am a fan of the group of actors who are involved in this film. This looks like a very different movie coming from MARVEL. I think it'll be entertaining.
