And she totally stopped talking to her gay neighbor as a result of it. I'll be he's crushed.
One of the contestants last night said something with "my husband" in his commentary. This contestant happens to be a man. It threw us all for a loop. Trebeck didn't (couldn't) react, since there is no time to ask detailed questions, and to do so would be "homophobic" in our brave new modern world. The TV crew couldn't bleep it out since, like Trebek, they have to be as PC as possible. The audience, like me, was given unsolicited information about a controversial social arrangement during a normally pleasant evening show.

Of course, at least his husband isn't Filipino!

I think it is time that ordinary people "upped the ante" wherever possible: not doing business with openly gay people (there aren't that many)
Oh boy does she have another thing coming...
At this point, he smiled just a little to show me that he agreed.
Without being there I'd have to guess this was a "God, woman you're crazy but you're a customer so I can't fight with you" type smile.
The poor girl looked bewildered, but didn't disagree with me. She continues to give me good service when I go there, so she clearly didn't mind (or find racist) what I said to her.
Again, she can't tell you how bat-**** crazy you because she has a job she'd like to keep.

I know I should be outraged, but I actually find her funny!
The "Little smile" her waiter gave her was probably like the little smile performers get midway through their interviews for The Corner.

Posted: 3/6/12 at 2:43pmI'm astonished by the mind-reading abilities she evidences in the second post--like when people smile at her rantings and she knows that means they agree, whereas a casual observer might think it means they think she's an insane bigot.

Posted: 3/6/12 at 2:54pmI think I'd be perfectly happy never having to deal with this woman in any capacity as she makes her own world a smaller and more hostile place. I notice she pretends to be Christian. Boy, is she going to be in for a surprise on Judgement Day.

Anyone from the area and know where this Fran's is? I think it should become a favorite hangout for the gay community.

Posted: 3/6/12 at 3:11pmNotice how she mentions that the waitress continued to give her give her good service but no more mentions of the waiter. Maybe I'm reading in between the lines too much but perhaps he wouldn't give her any service after that exchange.

Why do you have to bring my country into it
Cry.
Seriously, she writes a blog centered on arts and culture? Bwahahaha. It really does read like comedy--while she insists there can't be "that" many out gay people (the non out ones seem OK I guess), she really does seem paranoid about them circling around her.

Sorry about that, Eric. :) I thought that the fact that she lives in a progressive city within a country that has had marriage equality for years made her over-the-top reaction to a very casual announcement on a game show all the more odd. Introducing someone as a husband there, or in Massachusetts, where the contestant was from, isn't a political statement. It's a legal fact.

When I was little there was a LDS commercial that would air from time to time. Some others in my age group may remember this one. A little boy plans on telling his mother a lie but when he walks into his house dancing men with flashlights are coming at him from every which way singing "When you tell one lie it leads to another".
I can picture her being circled and taunted in the same manner but with different lyrics. "When you see one gay it leads to another". They're all dancing and swirling around to in order to "attack" her with their sexuality.

Posted: 3/6/12 at 4:41pmI love how she describes being thrown for a loop yet puts quotation marks around "homophobic" like she isn't exhibiting the very definition of the word. I wonder what she thinks that word means.

Calvin--no that makes complete sense. I gotta ask how you found her blog in the first place--I mean are other blogs linking to it, etc? I only now read the other link (how dare Koreans and the Chinese like to be called Asian!). Poor womanm, if only she knew that her beloved cheap french toast was perhaps made by some homosexual Asian. I hope she's having success forming her army...
Eris, do you mean this commercial? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=thyffmWejtM (I had to look it up as I kinda remembered it from my childhood--how I miss those LDS commercials).

Her contact email is cameralucidas@yahoo.com
I think she needs a few hundred emails about her nasty, negative blahg.
What a loon...

I just sent an email.
I'm not very eloquent, but let's see what her response is.
I just read your blog about a man referring to his husband on Jeopardy.
What is your problem? You sound like the most ignorant, bigoted person on the planet!
"Trebeck didn't (couldn't) react, since there is no time to ask detailed questions, and to do so would be "homophobic" in our brave new modern world."
Because Mr. Trebeck doesn't care who the guy is married to. Only you seem to be upset. Why? It has nothing to do with you. The only reason it affects you is because you let it.
"What do you say when a man talks to you about "my husband" and a woman about "my wife"?"
What do we say when you go on about the person you are with? Nothing. But, then, I have a strong feeling you are single...
Then you go on to talk about your neighbor with the bulldog: "He expected a friendly, "accepting" reaction from me, and expected that things would go on as normal.
Well they didn't. I don't have any more pleasant "hellos" for him or his dog. Rather than ask what is the matter, he seems to act like someone who got found out, with a submissive, and rather pathetic, expression whenever he sees me"
Why would he "act like someone who got found out"? He told you what he does and didn't seem to be bothered by it, or hide it from you in any way. Only you were bothered. Did you tell him about your bigoted blog? Probably not. You really shouldn't judge others writers when you suck so bad at it.
"I think it is time that ordinary people "upped the ante" wherever possible: not doing business with openly gay people (there aren't that many); not watching shows and movies with openly gay actors or characters; pointing out aggressive gay behavior to others (as I did here); cutting off even social niceties with openly gay friends and acquaintances, and so on. We have no choice really. Either that, or we let the homosexual wave roll over us."
Yes, your other posting about the local restaurant made me laugh as well. You seem to know what everyone is thinking. How is that? They are looking at you thinking, "She's out of her ****ing mind!" but they aren't going to say it because they want to keep their jobs. Please stop spending your money in our businesses. We don't need you, or your attitude. And please make sure you tell every gay person you know, just how you feel about them. That way they know what a closed minded bigot you are.
It's closed minded people like you who make this world an uglier place.
Signed,
A Big Homosexual

From her postings it sounds like she's in Toronto. So, we'll just need to take over them all. Bahahahaha...
Eric, yes! That's the one.

ThatreDiva that's a great email, and I appreciate it. I admit, I'm going to stay out of it. I don't think anything I could say would change her opinion--but.
Her blog is too much. She has posts prai9sing couture collections by *openly gay* fashion designers and doesn't seem to understand the double standard.

Eric, it was linked on Queerty. I sent an email myself, as I mentioned on there. :)
“Your blog is satire, right? Just making sure. If not, here’s a little hint: When people smile and don’t respond to things you say, you shouldn’t take that as a sign of tacit agreement. Rather, they’re probably trying to avoid bursting out in laughter and also don’t want to prolong conversation with you any more than necessary. That also might explain why you get less attentive service at restaurants than scary, mixed race gay couples. You probably won’t want to respond to this email, as that would constitute communication with a homosexual. Good luck with the world!”
