This terrifies me. What will stop them from raiding the living quarters of Olympic athletes? It's getting ugly in the toilet bowl of Europe.

This is sick.
Never in my life have I so supported the thought of a covert CIA takedown. Putin is no longer scared to show the world the malicious dicator he aspires to me. And his country follows suit willingly.

What's even scarier is the aftermath of that raid.
Shortly after, Alekseyev announced he was closing his Twitter account and giving up activism forever—-not because of government intimidation but because he is "insulted" by an article about him by Michael Lucas in Out Magazine. He also says that he's withdrawing his international human-rights lawsuits against Russia, again supposedly because of this article and other Western media, who are misrepresenting the plight of LGBT Russians.
A man who has devoted years of his life to fighting for the rights of LGBT people suddenly gets his feelings hurt and closes shop?
Something smells really bad here.

This really is frightening and also infuriating at the injustice of it all. Neighbours turning against neighbours!
Reginald, I agree totally with what you say, was it on this board or another altogether? There have been rumours Alekseyev has been kidnapped and his accounts hacked - hence all these postings that go against all he has fought for?

I can't find it now, but there was also talk that his mother had been interrogated and her phone, laptop, etc. confiscated.
Again, I have no idea what's true or not, but if he feels she's being threatened, that's another possible motive for his seeming to recant.

I found this article linked from yours makes the situation even more confusing. The last part of it included a letter from Nikolai stating he wasn't anti-Semitic. He said the references in his posts from 2011 were about his disgust for the State of Israel for supporting Mubarak.
