Lorelai (or anyone)- are you a little... depressed? Maybe I take it too seriously, but I waited for this ALL summer. I speculated and imagined. Then I watched my hour slip away so fast. It's kind of depressing. At least we have a whole season to look forward to!

EDIT: I'm really excited about her presenting at the Emmys, too. She'll look gorgeous, I know. She always does.

I loved this episode!! I was really anticipating it, but I just wish there was more with Luke and Lorelai. I LOVE them together. Where was Sooki? She's one of my favorite characters on the show and she wasn't even in the season premiere. Oh well... LUKE AND LORELAI FOREVER!!

first of all I LOVE the gilmore girls. tonight was a little depressing SPOILERS ~~ the whole court thing really pissed me off because let's face it kids from wealthy families generally do not get punished. I was suprised that Rory was okay with commiting a crime and not dealing with any of the repercussions. UNDERAGE DRINKING?? I could not believe it was so blatant, i read somehwere recently that movies with underage drinking will be rated R and yet they can put it on TV? END OF SPOILERS~~

This was my by-far most favorite Michelle episode

My favorite thing about GG is when i'm watching Dirty Dancing or the Lost Boys I can hardly believe how well they have aged.

*sigh* This premiere was the big test, and I guess I'm not dropping the show after all. It had a) the right reply to Lorelai's question b) Rory getting punished for her actions, and c) not too much Rory.

Can you tell I don't like Rory? My only objections to this ep are that there wasn't enough of the senior Gilmores, and that Richard acted ludicrously in court. But it's understandable.

Anyway, that's the all I'll get to see until December (when I'll inevitably be disappointed by the rest of the season). So my main goal will be the avoiding of spoilers. :)

Plum- I'm not such a huge fan of Rory myself. Especially right now.

Rory has been drinking for awhile now...

And I'm a fan of Lorelai and Rory together...

I said to joeyjoe last night that I am disappointed with how they are dealing with Rory. She started off as such a good girl - really interesting and kind and loving - but she's degenerating into a little spoiled b*tch and it bothers me. On the whole, from someone who has loved this show from its inseption - I just think it was a very weak season opener. I was practically cheering when the judge came down on Rory. She deserves to do some hard time for stealing a yacht and sailing away on it with that ultimately spoiled Logan. Where is Marty when you need him? And Paris - love her and can totally relate to her message to Lorelai - get that spoiled little daughter of yours back in line!!!

That's why we have Paris.

I love Paris, and I love Lane.

Has anyone noticed Lane's mother in a commercial for some post-menopause hormone pill?

No, but Sookie was in a commercial for a bank recently. Washington Mutual, maybe. She was the person scanning the heads (if you've seen it you know what I mean).

I guess they have to find a way to get money while some of the cast was filming the premiere.

Seriously, where was Sookie? You would have thought Lorelai would have gone almost straight to her. Especially before Taylor... I miss Sookie.

No Lane either...same theory one would think Rory would run straight to her...

Crazy TV execs...

That's right! Lane! Aw, I love her. Though I liked her with Dave best. Now she's with Zach. She deserves better. Yeah, hasn't Rory talked to her about everything? I bet she would put her in her place.

I have to say I watch the repeats on ABC family and I don't really like Rory than I see her in the new episodes and I still don't like her. I loved Paris in this episode. Lorelai will be getting a lot of calls from her if my prediction is correct.

I love the Luke and Lorelai, but as much as I love them together I don't think the marraige is going to happen. I mean the whole show is built on the sexual tension between them. Also, Christopher will not be taking this sitting down because he always likes to ruin a good thing.

Not having Sookie or Lane in the first episode is NOT a money thing. If your name is in the opening credits, then you are a series "regular", and you get paid weekly whether you're in the episode or not. People like Saly Struthers and Liz Torres only get paid for the episodes they're in.

Hmmmm.... premier was... odd. It was like yay... let's get married. No kissing, no hugging, the way the stayed on opposite ends of the diner for forever was SO akward?!?! And Rory is getting on my last nerve. I love GG, but this first episode was SO disapointing.

The great thing about Gilmore Girls is that the characters are real. Rory makes bad and disapointing decisions, Loreleli doesn't always do the right "parent" thing and the Grandparents have conflicting agendas.

Rory is acting like a college student, especially in the atmosphere she has entered with the pressures of that particular group of people at Yale. I hate that she lost confidence in herself so easly, but I love the show for moments exactly like that. She will eventually work through it, but the process is what is interesting and the process many of us have gone through.

I think the old Rory was right for that time in her life, but the new Rory is right for now, they both have faults and work on them.

I stand corrected, you are as vapid as they say.

ashley, i'm a bit depressed, but it's okay, the episode was good enough to fill my needs. and yes, it did go by VERY quick

but i don't like this whole rory and lorelai rift, i miss the fast talking between the two of them, but oh well, i guess i'll just have to wait till this is resolved

oy with the poodles already!

I completely agree! I can't express how frustrated that made me! I was like... do SOMETHING.

They had a rift before, right after Rory slept with Dean, and that went on for a little while. It's a variation from the normal, great relationship. They have to make it a little more realistic. Every relationship has fights.

I like the Rory in the old episodes much better though. Although it's different, and it gives her something to work with, it's just not... her.

smartpenguin, I wasn't expecting Rory to stay a flawless overachiever forver. I went to a high school where those kinds of falls from grace were a specialty. But almost nothing she's been doing lately has seemed in character, or even sympathetic. That might be Bledel's acting limitations, but I don't know.

And now I can't come to this thread anymore. Or at all, really, until December. Bye!

Anyone watch last night's episode? I thought the last part between Lorelai and Rory was great. And can I just say how much I hope Rory does not join the DAR? It would be going against everything her mother ever stood for. If she joined that world... I hope she comes to her senses soon.

That whole relationship is whack. We've always had this mom-daughter bond, and now it's not there and UGH!

And I'm still confused as to why it took Rory so long to find about her mom and that guy. You'd think gossip would come around. I've been to the set/town. It's not that big.

And Kelly Bishop should sooooooooo win an Emmy. She's great.
