Americans Elect is an interesting proposition. Not sure where it's heading, but some of their ideas are intriguiing. They're trying to get on the ballot in all 50 states. Link to their website below.
I see a 3rd party candidate having a bigger impact in a year where there is no incumbent. If both parties were mucking up their primaries like the GOP, there might be a real opening. Also, I'd only support a 3rd party candidate if he or she seemed like they were truly outside the mold of either party, not just a disgruntled Republican or Democrat.
Keep in mind, a strong 3rd party candidate might result in no one getting the required 270 electoral votes, and that could send the election to the House.
