re: Girl Scout Cookies....

Sometimes I see Girl Scouts selling cookies right off campus...I haven't seen them in awhile.

However, I think I can still get my Girl Scoout Cookie fix from their ice cream. YUMMY!!!

re: Girl Scout Cookies....

I was in the Galleria Mall at Crystal Run in Middletown NY over the weekend. Girl Scouts have a booth set up on the upper level near Victoria's Secret. I went past them once, but then remembered my dad liked their cookies so I went back and bought him a box of trefoils.

For anyone in the area who is desperate for a fix, they'll be there till the end of April, after school during the week, and all day on the weekends. re: Girl Scout Cookies....

re: Girl Scout Cookies....

I have exactly 5 Thin Mints left. They will be gone tonight. A moment of silence, please. Sniff, sniff.

re: Girl Scout Cookies....

All of my thin mints are gone.

I still have a few of the lemon ones left. Problem is, I can eat the entire box. And I can just keep eating them. So after the thin mint incident (oh - a whole sleeve thank you PMS), I put the lemon cookies on a high shelf that I can only reach if I get the step stool from another room.

Once I bought a box of Samoas from a co-worker's kid. The entire box was gone before I left the office for the day. And, I didn't share!

Haha, I can beat you there Peach--I bought some from a friend ater I left a meeting with her. It was a ten-minute car ride home. I had one left by the time i got to my house.

It was Samoa genocide. I felt sooo disgusting afterwards.

The daughter of one of my office colleagues is a girl scout...

I have already placed my order for one box of trefoils and one box of thin mints. Only one each, because I'm trying to lose weight before going to London in April. re: Girl Scout Cookies....

Early on, they tried cub scout cookies but the idea never caught on.

A Girl Scout came to my house a few weeks ago. The way my family acted, you'd think it was Ed McMahon with a giant check.

re: Girl Scout Cookies....

the reason why there are two names for several of the different cookies: trefoils/shortbreads, tagalongs/peanut butter patties, etc is that there are two girl scout cookie bakeries. And girl scouts of America OWNS those bakeries.

these kids are selling these cookies for two things: for themselves and for the troop. None of those kids out there is selling cookies for the greater good. They are selling them because "twenty more boxes and I can get the towel, the shirt, and the patch!" AND becuase each box of cookies sold is a little more money towards going places and doing things.

Who would want cookies made out of snakes, and snails, and puppydog tails? I'd stick with sugar and spice too.

Ah these bring me back. I remember one girl in my 4th grade class got in a lot of trouble because she ate all the cookies people ordered from her.

re: Girl Scout Cookies....

I remember contests to see who could sell the most boxes of cookies. Some of the kids' parents would buy hundreds of $ worth to make their kids win. oy.

Yeah Jane. I will only buy cookies from scouts who approach me and give me a sales pitch. To me, part of selling the cookies is learning about sales and marketing- not getting your mom/dad to take the order form to work. I used to go with my daughter and she would talk to the neighbors and give a full presentation. She learned to close her presentation by asking how many boxes would you like!

haha. That's kinda amusing.

Jane- when I was in elementary school, parents would buy stuff from their kids fundraisers so they would win those little prizes. In reality, as much money as they spent on the fundraiser stuff, they could have bought 500 of those prizes.

I remember the times they were selling holiday wrapping paper. Some families will have a supply of wrapping paper for the rest of their lives.

yeah, and Mom, when the parents bought all the cookies, the kid never had to deliver them to people, they just kept them in their own house when they got them!

re: Girl Scout Cookies....

My daughter delivered all the cookies that she sold. We would put them in a rolly cart and go down the street. She made it a point to thank every customer who supported her troop. I remember when Bruce Willis bought 10,000 boxes from his daughter and then gave them to the troops. I don't think anyone else in her troop or council could match that. Props for the gesture though.

Jane, you owe me 7 bucks...and I'll deliver them for free!

re: Girl Scout Cookies....

I always buy them from people at work. Their daughters are girl scouts. I leave them on a table at work and they are gone in a flash......better for me. I don't do sweets.
