Curiosity just got the better of me and I went to Phelps website. Good Lord! There is a whole section about God hating the Swedish Royal Family. According the site, King Carl XVI Gustaf looks like an "anal copulator" and his kids "slutty and gay". Woe unto Stockholm!

You know, Phelps and his minions preach about God and God's will and that God hates the world for allowing homosexuals, but in all honesty, don't you think that God isn't exactly thrilled with them picketing funerals? I mean, isn't that considered I don't know...sacreligious?

These morons claim that the fallen soliders and Heath Ledger are in Hell to which I have to say, "Really? How do you know for a fact they are in Hell? How do you know for sure that there even is a Hell? Have you visited Hell recently and is it really the great vacation spot that everyone claims it or does your God come up and tell you they are there? And by the way, does he still have the horns and pitchfork?

There really isn't any tragedy they can't twist to fit their agenda. What was their justification for the funeral of the family slaughtered by one of the sons--were they claiming he was gay and the family had been too "tolerant" of him or something? Oh, it's just not worth the effort to try to follow their anti-logic...

I see what you're saying, and I'll admit I'm making a leap, but without religion there'd be no justification for marginalizing gay people.

I can totally see where you're coming from with this, but I think (unfortunately) people will always find or invent reasons to marginalize other groups of people. The Bible didn't say that whites are superior to blacks, but that didn't stop a hell of a lot of people from believing that for hundreds of years.

This is ridiculous. Anyone who says "God hates (fill in the blank), knows nothing of the teachings of Christ. That so many people here seem to think it's true, is rather alarming. If a group calling themselves a church formed and started saying that "Phyllis Rogers Stone hates fags", would it be true? That's all that Phelps is doing. God, Christ and religion aren't what's preventing gay rights. People are. You can point to text in The Bible, to justify not filing your tax returns.

PRS, that's a HUGE generalization. Actually, I find it incredibly insulting. I do know where you're coming from, because, as usual, a few bad apples give the rest a bad name. But that's doesn't mean that all Christians feel this way. I don't. And nobody I know advocates for bigotry or violence. And I'm extremely offended by the Westboro lunatics.

I do see your point about what's standing in the way of gay rights. I've often asked myself how they are justifying their decisions if we're supposed to live in government that believes in the separation of church and state.

But, again, not all Christians are crazed radicalists. Or haters...

Their hatemongering is really hitting home lately. First, locally, with the Lauterbach funeral. Now, personally, against women who shop at Lane Bryant.

I have never seen a transvestite shopping at Lane Bryant. That would be pretty awesome, really. Though I think the proportions on those clothes would be a little tricky to fill out without some heavy padding. Otherwise, most of them would just look like those slender Amazonian manladies who model oversize clothing for the catalog line.

I just went to their website and I must say I cannot take anything that they say seriously at all. I mean they are going to picket the Academy Awards? Give me a break here. Plus, I laugh when they say why they are picketing and then they throw out some verse from the "Bible" that really doesn't make any sense with what they are picketing. And there are some books they quote, that I have never even heard of.

It is a very sad world.
