Goodbye, old girl
My old girl
When you awaken I'll be gone
Can't tell you where I go
It isn't fair, I know
But trust in me and carry on
Goodbye old friend
My old friend
There's sometin' I must let you know
I haven't said it much
I guess I've lost my touch
But, my old girl, I love you so
Rest in peace my old girl.
You were the most amazing little friend the past 14 1/2 years.

Posted: 8/13/13 at 1:52pmWhat a beautiful girl she was! And she looks so comfortable on that couch, on those pillows. What a great home you must have given her. She must have loved you so much.

Thanks everyone. When we agree to bring these little creatures into our hearts we know one day that we will also experience the loss when it is time for them to move on. She was and always will be special. I am hanging in there. I've had my moments of breaking down right here at my desk at work. Time heals everything...hahahah at least I can laugh as I hear the melody play in my head.
Maybe I too can laugh about the events of last night now but I was fixing my surround sound last night in and around helping her. I had the Phantom of the Opera DVD playing because I thought it offered the most surround sound aspects for testing purposes. When she was heading for the worst I ran out of the house with her - left the DVD playing with the sound on too. I got back (to give you a sense of how fast it happened) when Christine was singing "You were once my lone companion, you were all that mattered, you were once my friend..." of ALL songs to be playing when I returned without my friend and only her collar in my hand. Hearing "Wishing you were somehow near again..." was tragic.
I'll get through this. Still tough to grasp that I made this selfless decision for her and letting go is the ultimate last loving gift I can give to her.

After time passes and you heal, perhaps save another scheduled to be put down in a local shelter in her honor. As you know I now have Waltzing Matilda in honor of old Codger, whom I still miss dearly!
Letting go is the greatest gift of love you can give an elder sick dog. They really let you know when it is their time. They do it without fear or anxiety.

Great photo and lovely sentiment.
Is there anything, anywhere, better than an Old Dog?
Sincere condolences on your loss.
