I recently read Heart of Darkness. It was very fascinating. I don't know why you wouldn't read it if it was assigned; it is very, very short.

D2, Les Miserables is one of my favorite books, and I actually feel something close to loathing for the musical.

Don't sniff at ALL young adult books, I've found out. Take time to read "I am the Messenger" by Markus Zusak. It is brilliant. Underage cabdriving, what's not to love? Plus, Zusak has one of the best writing styles I've come across. It is impossible to put one of his books down.

A Confederacy Of Dunces.
It has one of the greatest characters in modern fiction IMO.

A Confederacy of Dunces is great, but I like Toole's other novel The Neon Bible better.

Very few people seem to have read "Ragtime" even if they like the musical. (FABULOUS book, was my lunchtime read last summer)
A good Young Adult book is "Here Be Monsters" somewhere between Lemony Snickett and Wizard of Oz.

I LOVED The Wolves of Willoughby Chase - one of my favorite books when I was a kid. I also loved Harriet The Spy. Great read.
Cheyenne Jackson tickled me. AFTER ordering SoMMS a drink but NOT tickling him, and hanging out with Girly in his dressing room (where he DIDN'T tickle her) but BEFORE we got married. To others. And then he tweeted Boobs. He also tweeted he's good friends with some chick on "The Voice" who just happens to be good friends with Tink's ex. And I'm still married. Oh, and this just in: "Pettiness, spite, malice ....Such ugly emotions... So sad." - After Eight, talking about MEEEEEEEE!!! I'm so honored! :-)
