Great Ironies

OK -- what do you think some of life's greatest ironies are....

Washington National Airport was renamed for the president who fired all of the country's air traffic controllers

re: Great Ironies

And this board is supposed to be about theater, but often seems to have nothing to do with it. It's really about gossip, sex, boredom and cyber-flirting.

I got one: Moving out of New York to Colorado to get away from the violence, and on the 10th anniversary of the move the Columbine shooting happens.
True story.

re: Great Ironies

Columbine happened in 1998.
There is no way anyone could have made that thought-fuled move, unless it is only just being planned now for 2008.

re: Great Ironies

Yes Nugget Monkey, you're right, it is an off topic board open to any discussin but, surpringly to some, I'm sure, there is more to discuss than sex, gossip the hottest BW actor.

There is one of the ironies of this board. With so much to talk about, the majority of people here seem so limited.

I think this topic could be very inetresting and I need to think about some of life's ironies. Thank you, KMF, for adding something interesting to ponder.

re: Great Ironies

Trust me, NuggetMonkeys, the Columbine shooting happened in 1999. And to clarify, we left New York on April 20, 1989 and ten years later...well, you know the rest.

re: Great Ironies

10th anniversary of the move...not Columbine.

I have one I was discussing w/ someone at lunch. But it really could offend.

It just has to do w/ Andrew Sullivan, who he supports, and an ironic turn in his life.
"I'm so looking forward to a time when all the Reagan Democrats are dead."

re: Great Ironies

now what's happened to Andrew Sullivan? He was so sexy. But i saw him recently in Provincetown, and he looked, well, not good. I hope he's not ill.

re: Great Ironies

Hey. It's the off topic board. The broadway board is about broadway. Get a clue.

re: Great Ironies

That sounds interesting, Robbie and I would love to know what you are referring to but, I trust your judgement if you feel it may offend others.

A day late and a dollar short, captain. We addressed this already and Midtown has a good point. This is coming from the queen of double entendre and sexual conversation...it does get old when overdone.

I forgot where I read this, but it is so true:

"One no longer loves one's insight enough once one communicates it."

And then there's the "pro-life" activists bombing abortion clinics, directly killing both innocent people and the fetus they care so much about.

re: Great Ironies

Kinda like the animal rights activists who set off bombs in mink farms? That strikes me as more hypocritical than ironic.
