And correct me if I'm wrong, but I didn't see one single Rebecca De Mornay film on that list.

Brad Pitt is conspicuously absent, also. At least we were spared THE TREE OF LIFE making it.
Well, I wouldn't have been mad at TREE OF LIFE on that list.
But I really think SE7EN deserves a spot somewhere there.
I'm firmly, firmly with you on "Tree of Life," J-Cat.
But you know this.
I do know this and it's why I love you.
But on this list where are the Andie MacDowell movies???
OMG Did anyone ever tell you you look like her?!
(lol I literally just remembered that I forgot to "like" that post on FB)
LOL. When that popped up I burst out laughing thinking of you.
You two need to get a screening room.
And I'm sorry, but not one Buddy Hackett movie?
Please.
Jordan and I might kill each other in a screening room.
We'd get into fisticuffs deciding between "Synecdoche, New York" and "My Best Friend's Wedding."
We could probably agree on "Speed," though.
Mine is 78 rpm.

Oh my God, I love that. LOL
I'm going to watch WEDDING today just for the reason that Philip Seymour Hoffman isn't in it.
Oh, and SPEED is fvcking awesome.

There are episodes of THE MARY TYLER MOORE SHOW and THE SOPRANOS that I'd gladly see included on that list, for what it's worth, and that may not be much. And the concentration on feature length films and the total exclusion of animation is pretty noxious, too -- a list of the great works of cinema that doesn't include a single Bugs Bunny film is woefully inadequate.
How the "Oranges Poranges" episode of H.R. Pufnstuf fails to register on these best-of lists is beyond me.

Or a kumquat?
Okay, I LOVE this ...
Sight & Sound's 10 Greatest Films of All Time, and their one-star reviews on IMDb
Now THAT is funny!
BTW, I cant stand Vertigo, and I hate Kim Novak, the worst actress ever. She makes me mad.
I love that 8 1/2 review! It's as if he believes it's some sort of obscure underground cult film he discovered.
Best12bars does own this thread. He hit the nail on the head with his assessment of this list. Boring and predictable is right.
If you look at the person who gave the 1-star review to 8 1/2, you know this guy is a troll. The Empire Strikes Back, Star Wars, A Clockwork Orange, Office Space, Apocalypse Now, The Graduate, and On the Waterfront also received 1 star reviews and according to this person, In the Bedroom, Wild Strawberries, and Big Momma's House are all comedy classics.
LOL. Sissy Spacek did give one of the greatest comedic performance ever in IN THE BEDROOM. Her last scene specifically was on par with anything Chaplin ever did.
