What else can you say?
Sutton, Idina, Kristen, Audra: shut the f**k up. Listen and learn from this classy, witty lady who left us too soon.
TCM is showing a bunch of her films during the day.

If you live in New York you should check out the play Judy and Me. It is such a tribute to Judy.
Judy Garland was a treasure. I wish I could turn back time and be alive during the glorious years of her movies and concerts. Happy birthday in heaven!!!!

fflagg - gotta disagree a little - those women come with their own set of honorable qualities. This isn't a competition.
I love Judy. Always have, always will. For all of her gloriousness, I salute.
But, she had her day, and others have theirs. One shouldn't negate the other.
I checked the TCM website, and I was disappointed that the Judy Garland movies end by 8:00 p.m. I was also disappointed that they wren't showing "A Star is Born" and "Easter Parade"- two of my favorites. But, I am looking forward to the special at 6:45....
Judy would hate that you made her birthday thread an opportunity to bash other performers.
I think I feel the spirit of Judy Garland every time I hear a woman put her whole heart into a song--and certainly Sutton, Idina, Kristen and Audra do just that.
They may not be Judy, but Judy would want them to be nothing but themselves.
Happy birthday Judy. And sing out, Sutton, Idina, Kristen and Audra...and everyone else who gives us the gift of song.

One of my favorite pictures of the Greatest Entertainer to ever live. Happy Birthday Judy!

And naturally I have to work today...oh well, I'll watch Oz after work tonight.
Gypsy, I love that picture! Mature, thoughtful, complicated, but not a mess-picture.
Here's Judy's birthday (16th?) at MGM:
Happy birthday Judy. LOVE YOU.
I caught Listen, Darling this morning. I had never seen it before, but it's adorable and Judy was great.
I know Judy was larger than life, but does this thread have to be?

Mama Garland at...well, I guess everybody knows the room.
For me the Greatest Entertainer Ever...No one compares!!!
Happy Birthday Frances Gumm, you are always in my Heart...
It was partly because of you that I went into the business...
I heard a rumors years ago that she was up for the part in Three Faces of Eve...I wonder if that is true...
Love Judy, Happy Birthday!
I agree with you Jen, would love to see these movies in the evening. Unfortunately TCM only shows these birthday tributes in the daytime now. I also agree, it would have been fun to have been around during the golden age of hollywood.
Thanks, thatgirl....Bette Davis, Judy Garland, Joan Crawford, James Cagney...I could go on and on all day. That was the best era!!!!
