Once again we're off track

Once again we're getting off track from what's REALLY important in this thread: robbiej.

Marc. How could you, and anyone else out there, not consider going to see our own robbiej in a brillant Steve Martin play? Now in case you missed his last reviews on this board (well I think it was the On Topic board) I'll recap a few of the highlights of things written about his performance as Mrs. Siezmagraff in Durang's BETTY'S SUMMER VACATION. Mr. Eddie Varley, of the "Welcome, Eddie Varley" thread called robbiej, "Fabulosa...a tour-de-force...a major talent." Now how can that not wet one's appetite?

And as if that wasn't enough, here's what our own MasterLcZ had to say. "Like Harvey as Edna, you completely forget that robbiej is a 'man in drag playing a woman'. He simply is Mrs. Siezmagraff. The only thing comparable on a NY stage right now is Nathan's 'Betrayed' in THE PRODUCERS and I'm not kidding."

"Like Harvey as Edna"...hummmmmm...now there's an idea. The boy sings also. So, Marc, stop by, catch the show, then we can gossip and speculate about hearing the rumors of a transfer to Broadway.

Rest in peace, Iflitifloat.

re: Once again we're off track

Ahhh, BETTY'S SUMMER VACATION. That was one fun night of theater.
In addition to Robbiej (Mrs. Sieszmagraff was like Miss Frances in ROMPER ROOM on drugs...and whatever happened to ROMPER ROOM, anyway?), the girl who played Betty was very good...her look of total confusion and disbelief was priceless!

Marc:

I don't write anything about backstage gossip because I'm too busy with reality TV, going to the gym, hooking up with hot chorus boys and porn.

But I have to admit, I LOVED the discussion a while ago about the fighting backstage at Hairspray -- you know, when one of the kids accused another one of stratching him onstage and then ran out into the street to hail a cop and press charges. That's true chorus boy DRAMA.

Thanks.
Stop worrying about what I'm doing -- focus instead on what you're eating.

etoile, I completely agree with you about the brilliance of Steve Martin's play. I saw the original production and was blown away by the writing.

Kristin is scheduled to have a small role with Steve Martin in the new "Pink Panther" film.

I'm looking forward to seeing what a crackerjack cast does with this material. One of my favorite lines (that I've used on a clueless coworker), is when Einstein says to Picasso, "... maybe you're an idiot savant. And hold the savant."

I'm not a big fan of Melissa's music. Or Melissa Rivers at ALL. Rivers Cuomo I like a lot. Perry Como was a favorite of my mom. Mother's Day is soon. Soon-Yi married Woody Allen. Her adopted mother is Mia Farrow. LOC went MIA for a while.
