Okay--maybe not a total--but the conceit is certainly identical
While it is very similar to X-men, the writer's acknowledge it. One of the character's said something about X-men in the premiere.
Couldn't anything about mutants be considered an X-men rip-off? I'm not sure who started the whole "mutant gene" thing (which I'm thinking was X-men), but wouldn't anything that is connected to that be considered in the vein of that topic. I don't consider it a rip-off. People are just going to be comparing to X-men because X-men is so popular. I loved the pilot, and it's really intriguing. It looks like my mom is going to be watching 24 on one tv and I'll be watching Heroes on the other. That's okay. I only watch the first couple of episodes of 24 for Keifer Sutherland's voice. After about the third episode, which is when he starts screaming and yelling ALL THE TIME, I stop watching. Anyway, enough on MY rant. I really enjoyed the show and cannot WAIT until next Monday.
I enjoyed it. I'm curious to see where it goes. Hopefully, it won't go the way of Lost and get so convoluted that the only way they can tie anything together is by constantly adding flashbacks to continue story development.
This week's episode was amazing but man, quite graphic in its violence.
Hiro is my hero. I adore him. And wooohooooo Greg Grunberg. I've loved him since "Felicity".
I am really enjoying this show as well. It's in a great lead in spot and it's diverse enough to appeal to an audience larger than your typical comic book fan.
I am hoping the show succeeds as I really am looking forward to see where it's going to go.
You know, if nothing else, it's nice to have a tv show that was created with intelligence and depth, while keeping an eye on entertainment value. A rare combo.
I love Ali Larter and the girl who plays the cheerleader (does anyone remember when she played Ally's adopted daughter on the last season of Ally McBeal.
I LOVED it last night - though was a bit embarassed that I told my kids at school to watch it - who knew it was going to get so violent!!? They were teasing me about recommending it today - those who watched it - but really, was it necessary for it to be THAT graphic?
Still, I thought it was so well done - none of the story-lines are really slowing things down at all either.
Question: Was the comic book that Hiro was reading drawn BEFORE the five weeks, or does he somehow meet Isaac in the process? If he "leaped" forward five weeks, was he himself or is there another version of himself running around? They better have a good explanation for that...
I'm not sure, but the sexy mom with the doppelganger had a time lapse as well...
Maybe I missed something, but I didn't think it was that gory--except when the cheerleader pulled that mangled hand out of the disposal last week...oy...
Oh lildogs, see it through 7th and 8th grade eyes:
The cheerleader with her head snapped back
The woman (man?) who was stuck on the wall by the knives
The mutilated bodies in the trunk
The two bodies with the heads sawed off and brains scooped out
If that's not gory....
And you're right, Niki (right?) had the weird time jump also that we don't know exactly what happened...maybe it's a Jekyll and Hyde thing where the other personality takes over and she can't remember what happened while the "Hyde" side is present?
lildogs, you didn't think the dead bodies with the tops of their heads sawed off and their brains missing was a little gory?
I think the timeline as it stood last night is that hiro did not know the comic book writer. the comic book writer paints the future and that's what he did with hiro.
the interesting thing will be how much the future changes--if hiro can help change it ala back to the future.
I think ali larter is def a jekyll and hyde type. but who knows?
i'm very into the show now, and I hope it sustains.
Oh--I missed the heads stuff--sorry, i was also listening to my Queen cd at the same time--see what happens when you toke and watch?
Right, the time jump stuff is confusing. Remember Hiro finds Isaac (The artist) dead in the future (in November) so in October, Isaac is still alive. I was confused by that at first...killing off a main character on the second episode?
Does this mean the serial killer (the one on the answering machine message) has killed the parents of the little girl, but not Isaac yet?
Damn, this is not a show to half-watch. You need to really pay attention, huh?
Wait a minute -- that scene with the serial killers - are we to assume THAT was in the future??
Was EVERYTHING in the episode five weeks in the future or just Hiro's story?
I WATCHED this carefully and am as confused as I am during Lost! I love it!
i personally think everything up to now (minus Hiro and his time jump thing) was in October (or whenever, just not in the future AKA November) and now that we know whats gonna happen, everything from now on is gonna stay in the past and the prevention part will take the lead.
And i guess i don't see it like they killed off Isaac.. because he's technically not dead yet. it's just kinda like they showed us the season finale a season in advance lol. unfortunately we know he will eventually die, but i think we have a lot more time with him. as i see it, he's pretty damn crucial to the plot.
Anyone know the name of the pixie-cut girl on heroes? The one who was the neighbor of the Indian (slurpie not casino) professor. You know the one that is now naging around with the Indian's son?
She does not seem to be credited on IMDB.

No, we know that Hiro saw a future in which Isaac is killed and NYC is destroyed. That doesn't mean that it will necessarily happen.
I loved last night's episode. It seems like the show is really starting to hit its stride. I still hope that the various characters and storylines will consolidate more in the next few weeks. All the story hopping gets confusing.
ETA: "the pixie-cut girl" is played by Nora Zehetner. She's only credited under the second episode on IMDB. She was Laynie on Everwood, which is where I knew her from. Thanks for asking the question so I could find out, because it was driving me crazy.

Matt Lanter looks so young on this show. He looks younger than he did on Commander and Chief.

thanks, Yoda.
Damn, she's cute.
She's only a guest star, so I'm thinking she'll only show up in Matt's storyline and then only sparingly.
