High pitched buzzing that only people under 30 years old can hear...

Jason Robert Brown made a great joke about this tonight at Birdland. Apparently a friend sent it to him and he could hear it, and he asked his wife to come over and listen and she said, "What sound?"

Yikes!
Good to know my ears are still young.
Surprised this is on the news now. The BBC did a story on it over a month ago, I think.

I'm several years over the age limit and I heard it just fine. What does that mean?

Ooh, er. I'm 32, and I only heard something when I turned my speakers all the way up. Did I accidentally just drive my younger neighbors crazy?

I heard it, hmm I will have to ask my family now

Well my dad is 51, and he couldn't hear it. My mom, on the other hand, is 42, and could sort of hear it.
So I guess it really depends on the person.

I asked my mom if she could hear it -- she couldn't. (She's in her mid-50s.) I wasn't even going to bother with my dad, who is in denial.

It totally depends on the person. (They said that on the news report I saw, as well.) I could hear it, and MAN, was it annoying. Youch!

I could hear it, but it wasn't really loud and at first I thought it was just my laptop's hum. Then again, hearing loss runs in my family.

My brother and I heard the noise (My brother's exact words: "What is that noise?! I feel like my ears were going to explode.") My 50-year-old mother also heard it with the volume only a little bit up (but she could also hear a dog whistle when she was younger).

43 here and I could hear it no problem.

I know it's a ring tone. But apparently people here are going to a site to listen to it. Even though they know it's annoying and high pitched.
I'm all for it if I can't hear it and it's a cell phone ring.

Over 50 and can't hear it even with the volume turned up to max.
It wouldn't work for my students, though because even if I can't hear the ring, I would certainly notice them answering the phone.
