Thanks, Jay!
oh my god... that NBC's clip on Hillary saying... Matt... This is a right wing conspiracy!
keeps running thru my head!
Matt Lauer: "You have said, I understand, to some close friends, that this is the last great battle, and that one side or the other is going down here."
Hillary Clinton: "Well, I don't know if I've been that dramatic. That would sound like a good line from a movie. But I do believe that this is a battle. I mean, look at the very people who are involved in this — they have popped up in other settings. This is — the great story here for anybody willing to find it and write about it and explain it is this vast right-wing conspiracy that has been conspiring against my husband since the day he announced for president."
********
I dont care about Bill's affair...I dont judge him.. but my point is.. she is will SAY ANYTHING... like my friend Ron will say...."lies!"

Oh Jay, I love you dearly, but you don't have to say over and over and over and over again that you "cannot stomach" a candidate.
We heard you clearly the first 47 times you said so in long-winded and repetitive posts.
One of the two of them is going to be the candidate we all have to unite behind.
All I'm asking is that while the two of them are SLUGGING IT OUT--which is what you DO in politics--that we all refrain from bombastic references to the other candidate making us want to eat eye-gunk, play with nose-pickings or upchuck the contents of our stomachs.
Okayyyyyyy?
Jay,
I get your concerns, but the fear I have is that Obama is not ready for the job - he has been on the national stage for a very short period of time, and needs to hit the ground running.
I wonder how many of you would vote for Hillary if she was not married to Bill?
We can agree to disagree on the illegal alien statement - I think something needs to be done, but mass Amnesty is not my idea of solving the problem.
And, on the pandering issue - I find Obama's willingness to align himself with a clearly homophobic Donnie McClurkin, and then send the GLBT community an open letter about his support of gay rights, a bit disingenuous. Does an open letter provide you any comfort when his actions have demonstrated his willingness to tolerate a hate monger?
So, I have issues with his candor and his apparently willingness to say one thing and do another.
As I have said before, he may be the most amazing president in my life, but he may be Jimmy Carter - I am just not sure which one.
I dont know PalJoey..I'm sorry to say... I wish we can all unite and defeat McCain...but as of now...I am really feeling of just abstaining...I do hope I change my mind...or come to my senses..I dont know as to why i am develpoing this negative feelings about Hillary lately...that's why i dont listen to the radio anymore or the ads...
Well..would it matter if I abstain the presidency slot? if she wins the nomination she will surely win MA. I just cant snap out of my negativity....towards her... I wish....I could...

I detest abstainers. If you hate her so much, go and vote for McCain, but NOT voting is shameful.
Well, I'm going to repeat once again that DOMA and DADT were compromises to prevent harsher legislation. DOMA fended off a Constitutional Amendment and has since made it impossible for one to pass in Congress.
DADT was the result of backfire--from a young President certain he could whisk in and make major changes so easily...
That's one key difference for me. I fear that Obama is the Clintons of the early 90s---full of such desire to make changes without practicality. Hillary and Bill have learned those lessons already. She wants to make change, but realistic change. Change that WILL happen. Not just CAN.
Some people who abstain do so after carefully considering all angles PJ. If it comes down to the lesser of two evils, an abstention may be the best choice.
It's not necessarily a sign of apathy, but just the contrary.
I definitely wont vote for McCain. I never voted for REPUBLICAN in my life and NEVER WOULD....I voted for Bill Clinton twice in 1992 and 1996...he let me down...
Its just nobody convince me yet that she would not be like him.

In addition to what I posted above, there's no certainty that Obama won't be just the same.
That's the fear--that no matter what, they all end up getting into the office and are forced to make compromises.
I do not judge Bill on how he let me down. I judge him on how he brought me up. I do not think Hillary will let me down.
I am convinced that Obama's empty messages of inspiration will let us all down when the hard cold realpolitik emerges, like it did with Donnie McClurkin or with the credit-card companies. That is why I am not supporting him at this point. If he is the Democratic nominee I will support him, cautiously.
But to not vote is to abnegate the greatest freedom of all--it's not just our right--it's a gift that many people all over the world NEVER get. I "cannot stomach," as you say, people who don't vote.
Guys, there's probably no one person who fits the bill as everyone's perfect candidate. Hillary has a diverse history which some people construe as baggage and others construe as experience. Barack has an eloquent grasp of what needs to change which some people construe as just glib preaching and others construe as vision. The bottom line is that for almost eight years we, meaning Americans, have found ourselves more and more the victims of a government that beats its chest about patriotism while attempting to dismantle the very foundations of why we should be patriotic; that has expoited our temporary position as the only superpower by becoming an international bully; and that has lied to us so much that they can't tell what's real and what isn't. John McCain show no signs of following any different tack if elected. That's what we need to unite to change.
The great thing about the freedom of voting is that it is your right. Your choice. No one can take that away. If someone's choice is to not choose one the candidates (and I'm talking about someone who is an informed voter) it's no one's place to judge.
If someone does a write in, which is in essence like throwing away their vote, does that mean they are taking their freedom for granted?
No, it isn't taking the freedom for granted as long as they are making an informed choice. Their choice is to vote, or not to vote, based on whatever led them to that conclusion. Rights always come with responsibilities and, as long as someone has thought through their choices it isn't abuse of the freedom.
This is a discussion board. We're discussin'.
You and Jay may think abstention is a good choice. I do not.
If someone doesn't want anyone to comment on his or her choice to abstain, he or she shouldn't bring it up on a discussion board.
For discussin'.
Has any of this discussing actually changed any one elses viewpoint here. Discuss.
???
We are discussing. I never said I didn't want anyone to comment on my choice. Nor did I say I was going to abstain. In fact, I have no intention of ever publicly saying who I'm voting for.
I dont know why we all got divided with this issue...if the election is now..I would ABSTAIN... I just cant vote for her based on conscience...that's just how I do it..
I definitely would NEVER vote for Republican...but there's a lot of issues here in MA ..other slots like State Rep or State Senator..that we need to vote ..to make sure no Catholic Action League Candidate gets in...
I just dont know as to why this whole GAY ISSUES is splitting us apart...I know its probably selfish and just compromise so we can all unite...its just I am just soo sick & tired of compromising yet my own RIGHT is being compromised...
well...(my) chris is abstaining too...both of us...our friend have talked us about it..not to do it...but everyday seems more harder...

you people ought to be ashamed of yourselves for not respecting their opinions enough to accept them at face value and not coment upon them unless you happen to agree with them. kinda like the way the bammy campaign feels about the press. i for one am ashamed of my fellow posters but i have hope that the bamessiah will cure you of these ills when he and he alone fixes your souls and cures what has been an entire generation in hell for americans.

Papa, when President Obama turns water into wine at the Inauguration, I'm going to make sure he gives you Boone's Farm Tickle Pink.
"Has any of this discussing actually changed any one elses viewpoint here."
As an undecided independent voter, my views aren't changed by what anyone says here, but I do find it an interesting place to gather information and points of view. When I make my decision, it won't be because a certain poster here made a compelling argument, but it will probably be influenced by having heard some discussions, some of which prompted me to become a little more informed on certain topics.
i don't drink wine. i know that's not really wine, but i still won't drink it.
will you eat his body at least?
