I don't understand this thread. I understand how it started, but what is it now?
It's just conversational.

"Good times and bum times,
I've seen them all and, my dear,
I'm still here."
good times, bad times,
you know i had my share;
when my woman left home
for a brown eyed man,
well, i still don't seem to care.

Morning, Papa You were at things early this morning.
This threads title should be -- 'The 40+ yr old theater queens and one special lesbian reminiscing thread, with guest appearances by mominator, bdwaygirl, papa, etc'

Haha, Middy - you're absolutely right - and we fit right in
close enough mid?
and yeah, d, i was at the gym by 5:05 today and back home by 7:35. thank god i don't have to do that tomorrow.
Ummmm.....I am not a theater queen nor a lesbian (may I still stay?)
**oops had to edit stupid cold hands fingers are not working right.**
We need you Mom. This thread simply must have guest appearances from our straight friends. However, I think being a theater queen is a state of mind, so if you feel like you're one, than you are.
Hey Middie I am only 34 years old...so slow your roll with that 40 year old business....I'll get there eventually. Updated On: 1/28/05 at 12:23 PM
I will complement you by saying that you post like a 40+ yr old theater queen, meaning that you're knowledgable and have seen a lot of theater over the years. But I have no problem slowing it down for YOU boy.
Thanks mid. I am really begining to fear the cold shoulder treatment.
middie, you make the most simple requests sound downright sexual....
40+??? NOT!
Though I do recall Down on the Border and Take it Easy on Me from my childhood. They are now stuck in my head. I love them, but I must redirect myself to one of my happy songs:
Midnight,
and I'm a-waiting
on the twelve-oh-five
Hoping it'll take me
just a little farther down the line
Moonlight,
you're just a heartache in disguise;
Won't you keep my heart from breaking
if it's only for a very short time
Playing with the queen of hearts,
knowing it ain't really smart
The joker ain't the only fool
who'll do anything for you
Laying out another lie,
thinking 'bout a life of crime
That's what I'll have to do
to keep me away from you
Honey, you know it makes you mad
Why is everybody telling everybody
what you have done
Baby, I know it makes you sad
But when they're handing out the heartaches
you know you got to have you some
Lovers, I know you've had a few
But hide your heart beneath the covers
and tell 'em they're the only one
And others, they know just
what I'm going through
And it's a-hard to be a lover
when you say you're only in it for fun
Playing with the queen of hearts,
knowing it ain't really smart
The joker ain't the only fool
who'll do anything for you
Playing with the queen of hearts...
Funny that the lyrics aren't so happy, but I just love the tune.

I have NO idea why, but this popped into my head -
Alannah Myles
Black Velvet
Mississippi in the middle of a dry spell
Jimmy Rogers on the victrola up high
Mama's dancing with baby on her shoulder
The Sun is setting like molasses in the sky.
The boy could sing, knew how to move, everything.
Always wanting more, he'd leave you longing for.
CHORUS:
Black velvet and that little boy smile
Black velvet with that slow southern style
A new religion that'll bring you to your knees
Black velvet if you please.
Up in Memphis the music's like a heat wave
White lightning, bound to drive you wild.
Mama's baby's in the heart of every school girl
"Love me tender" leaves 'em cryin' in the aisle
The way he moved, it was a sin, so sweet and true.
Always wanting more, he'd leave you longing for.
CHORUS:
Black velvet and that little boy smile
Black velvet with that slow southern style
A new religion that'll bring you to your knees
Black velvet if you please.
Every word of every song that he sang was for you.
In a flash he was gone, it happened so soon,
What could you do?
CHORUS:
Black velvet and that little boy smile
Black velvet with that slow southern style
A new religion that'll bring you to your knees
Black velvet if you please.
Black velvet and that little boy smile
Black velvet with that slow southern style
A new religion that'll bring you to your knees
Black velvet if you please.
...If you please
If you please
I loved that song until that awful American Idol-esque Fame series when one of the contestants performed it. I think she got cut on that episode.

That's one of the reasons I don't watch those kind of shows. As a matter of fact, we have never seen even one episode of any 'reality' TV.
I like some of the shows. Amazing Race is my favorite and I watch The Apprentice because I'm usually bored on Thursday nights. Wife Swap, Super Nanny and Faking It have proven to be quite informative and interesting. And I have learned a lot from remodeling/makeover shows like Trading Spaces, While You Were Out, What Not to Wear and Queer Eye.
Sometimes I'll watch Survivor or Big Brother only towards the end for campy soap value. Like The Real World, they are more of the camp soap opera genre than anything remotely "real". It's mostly overacting for the cameras.
