I LOVE NY.
Rath,
The same thing happened to me. It is not NYC that you hate.
It just sucks to be anywhere sometimes.
Hope you have a better day manana.
I was just happy that the weather held out for Broadway in Bryant Park. My Niece didn't make it though. Taking her to puppetry theater manana.
At least you have a paying job!

I cant say there is enough of reasons to not live in NY as there are to live in it, but the tourists have got to drive some people crazy. And I second the cocroaches
The bushes of Tex were nervous recks because their son was dim, But look what happened to him~Dirrty Rotten Scoundrels~all about Ruprecht They say the thoughtful musicals dead on broadway~forbiden broadway : SVU~The crime scene Never say never, there's always one more person you can hit up~avenue Q.~the money song Life sucks, get a pacifyer~my own saying

my neighbors are all so horrible....& i dont mean just the people in my building, i mean everyone in a 10 block radius...that i CRAVE, YEARN & hunger for some isolation.

i am sooooo sick of salsa music til 6am, rats, people throwing trash out of their apartment windows...like the day i heard a loud SPLAT!...the people upstairs had thrown old spaghetti out the window & it was splattered all over my air conditioner & fire escape.

another example is starlotta jones. yes, thats really her name. she's a 500lb woman in my building & she parks her butt in the stairwell in just a flimsy nightie & slippers, no bra or panties, thighs spread the width of the stairs, & eats fried chicken (from MAMAS FRIED CHICKEN, down the street) & throws her chicken bones right there on the floor in the hallway.

& if its not salsa music going to 6am @ street festival volume, its some kind of hiphop song with the refrain "i'm gonna shoot you in the mouth, i'm gonna shoot you in the mouth" with bass that makes my bed vibrate. for hours @ a time, not just once in a while.

oh, & the 13 year old boy in #37 who got this 30 year old woman in the building next door pregnant & she & the boys mother get in fist-&-hair-pulling fights out in front of the building.

i *LOVE* the opportunites that nyc offers, but i am *OVER IT* as a location!!!!!

I don't hate NY. I hate what NY can do to people. It can make us/me completely self-absorbed.

I had to deal with a customer today on the phone. My call waiting clicked in. My father had pretty serious surgery today and it was my sister calling to tell me...you know...that he's still alive because the surgery was risky. So I am trying politely to get off the phone with this woman and I explained my situation, that it was a relative calling to tell me about the status of my father who had just had surgery.

She just.kept.going.

"What do I need to wear to this class?"
"How many people will be there?"
"How many men are registered?"

I missed the call and it went to voice mail. I swear to god I almost threw my cell across the room.

Sorry. Needed to vent.

"It just sucks to be anywhere sometimes."

CORINE WINS!

On the other hand, I think if Rath wants to leave, she should leave. I'll chip in to help her move, provided it's to a place with absolutely no internet access.

That's funny, Namo, I knew you'd post that - almost to a word.

I've still got it Rath. I knew you'd post one of your "I'm so psychic that I tell you how accurate I am AFTER the event I predicted has taken place" posts. And I'm serious about my offer.

I benefitted from the subway delay last night out of sheer luck.
I finished my workout and got on the subway and I apparently got on one of the lesser-used stations, so it wasn't crowded. Also, the delayed train was sitting IN the station. I got right on AND got a seat, whereupon the train began moving again and filled to the brim all the way uptown. RIDIC.
But at least I had a seat. i love new york

Occasionally it saps my energy, and I long for some peace and quiet, but I wouldn't want to live anywhere else.

I often wonder..if you lived on an exotic island or in a beautiful European city... after awhile would you feel the same way as living/working in NYC or would you always see the beauty and feel relaxed like you're on an extended vacation?

There's always Brooklyn. I hear a tree grows there :-P
Suzanne: I never use catalogs. I'd rather go in the store and see all the salespeople groveling and sucking up to you. Julia: Pardon me, I never knew they were so solicitous at the K-Mart.

I heard about that tree too, Jail. Let me know how nice it is.

I used to live across the street from it.

It was sort of scraggly looking. I wouldn't bother, if I were you...

Oh, right...they're the other things that grow in Brooklyn.

And weird unidentifiable wall fungus. Blech.

At least Mama Roach and her amazing brood that could survive nuclear war haven't taken up shop in your bedroom in defiance of two different types of roach spray AND a powder.

Ahh that reminds me-one little peeve of mine about NY-it isn't that uncommon to see a person defecating right out on the sidewalk. That never fails to make my day.
