That is cute!!
I love the name Henry, too.
I like sort of unique names for girls and more traditional names for boys, I've decided.
I'm with lusciouslace. Boys can cope pretty well being the fifth James in their class, but girls can pull off something a little more unusual with minimal teasing (another reason to love being a girl!), so I'with traditional for a boy and a little more glam for a girl.
My best names (which are the names I have saved for the dogs I aspire to have when I have the time, space, and money to have dogs, but as they are my best names, I would probably give them to children if any of those happened XD) are Arthur and Henry. I have a king-theme when it comes to boys' names. XD As for girls, the only name I especially like these days is Hero, and I don't think it's as easy to pull it off these days as it was in ancient Greek/Elizabethan times. Although I'm beginning to lean towards Hermia, despite my hatred for A Midsummer Night's Dream, which is cute and unusual enough without being too difficult for anyone to cope with. :3
My sister's daughter is called Elise, which is a lovely name, only slightly unusual. The problem is she goes by Ellie, which is one of the most absurdly popular names for girls in recent years.
Actually, there's an amusing reversal going on. You know how tourist attractions sell pens and mugs and all sorts with people's names on? In the UK, you can find tons of stuff with Ellie on it, but I've never once found an Ellie pen on my few trips to the US. Whereas my name doesn't turn up on these things in the UK, but you find it all over the place in the US. XD I think most people of my name in the UK are probably ladies in their 50s. It sounds like a "ladies in their 50s" name to me. But at least I'm the only one in a group at any given time (as long as I'm not hanging out with middle-aged ladies XD). :3
Woo, that went waffly! Just chalk it up to me being another one of those people who totally digs baby naming books.
I have a good friend named Elise. It is a very pretty name.
As soon as I had Henry, Pottery Barn Kids started using it on about half of their monogrammed stuff in the catalogs. I was like NOOOOOO!!!!!! Stop! Since then I've met at least 5 Henrys younger than mine. I blame Pottery Barn.
I like the names Violet, Josephine, and Lucy for girls ("Joey" for short for Josephine.) For boys, I like Calvin, Julian, and Robinson.
My name is really, really popular, and it's never been a name that I liked very much, and my mother claims she thought it was 'unusual' when she picked it.
That reminds me of this girl I knew in HS. She had 3 sisters. I can't remember one of their names, but she was Andrea, and 2 of her sisters were Danielle and Josephine. They were Andi, Dani, and Jo. The 4th one had a name that was shortened to a boy sounding name too.
Ya think her dad wanted boys? HAHA
Hey, I wrote a story when I was younger where the main character had four kids named Antoinette, Danielle, Charlotte, and Josephine, and they went by Tony, Danny, Charlie, and Joey The dad initially tried to name the youngest one "Tyrone, Jr..."
I also love the name Jordan for a boy, but the problem is that it's popular for girls as well... there's a kid in my theatre class named Tyler who the teacher mistook for a girl for WEEKS until she said to me, "Did you just call Tyler 'he?'" I wouldn't want that to happen to my kids!
For a boy, I love the name Gavin (not just because of Gavin Creel haha), and for a girl I like the name Alexis (Alex for the short boy name).
Stockard, you're 42? From your pics I thought you were 35 at the oldest. You look incredible!
I love the name Milo, but everyone tells me that's a name for a dog.
And Stockard, you look amazing for 42! What's your secret?
I know at least 20 Sarahs and Laurens, it's insane.
AND CAITLINS! ALL DIFFERENT SPELLINGS OF CAITLIN!
We have about nineteen in my chorus class if you count all of the spellings.
Awww, thanks you guys. I actually look better in that picture than I do in RL, because you can't see the wrinkles....haha! But people do usually think I'm 35 or so. I work out alot, and drink lots of wine. Although I doubt the wine has anything to do with it. LOL
When I was teaching I had 4 Jessicas in one class. Jess, Jessy, Jessica and Jessica.
Thanks, sweetie!
I hate when people spell names all weird. Caitlin seems to be a big one for that.
Okay, okay, nineteen is a gross exaggeration. That's pretty much my designated number for when I feel like exaggerating. I'll always say things like, "UGH, I HAD TO DO NINETEEN HISTORY WORKSHEETS... okay, two." "Well, I got like nineteen CDs for my birthday... well, six."
We have five Caitlins. And there are about thirty kids in my class.
Rachels and Hannahs seem to be the most common names wherever I end up. No matter how the classes got shuffled around, you were guaranteed three or four Hannahs in each class at school, and no matter how many left, some cosmic balance would come into play and we'd always have four Rachels at my old workplace. It was insane. XD
Schmerg has reminded me I love the name Violet for a girl. I think I'd use it for a Papillon or a Yorkie. :3
My number of exaggeration is a bazillion, a million, or fifty-eight. Depending on mood. I tried to use vigintillion after seeing Spelling Bee, but it just doesn't trip off the tongue.
Violet is a pretty name. Except it reminds me of "Violet, you're turning VIOLET!" from Willy Wonka.
I originally liked Hannah if Henry was a girl, but it was just becoming way too popular.
I remember for years, never having met anyone else with my name -- and then when I was in 7th grade, there were three of us all in my math class!
Do you like my new avatar girls?
I have no idea who this is, but this is what is coming up when I try to update my photo.
Very random.
Try renaming the picture and uploading it again.
Oh and 42's not exactly death's door, girls.
