LOL clever! I went out West once and was amazed by how dry the heat was!

Thanks for the welcome, everyone! And to answer your question, Maisie, I'm a girl. I guess you could call me an exchange student from the Av thread.
(And I'm also glad your audition went well. I envy you performer types so much! I'm too nervous to even get up there to audition!)
I hear ya'll about this weather. It's been HOT, HOT, HOT in Chicago recently. I'm utterly grateful that my dad bought me air conditioning this past Father's Day. Really, he bought it so my dogs would be safe (they don't shed), but I'm definitely relishing in the cool air too!

Wow! That's so handy! I feel like I know you all already!
A little about me... let's see... Well, as I said, I'm from Chicago. I've lived in the burbs all my life and got to finally move into the city when I got into Ph.D. school. I'm still working on that degree, but I'm also searching for full-time jobs in editing/publishing because I've come to the realization that I do not want to be a teacher. I'm an utterly devoted dog-mom. Benny and Bella are my world (mainly because I spent A LOT of time at home with them). I'm also married (almost 3 years) and have no plans for real kids any time soon. I have major obsessive tendencies (especially when it comes to bway shows and facebook), and I like to see the same shows over and over and over again. Oh, and I currently work at Build-a-Bear and am loving every minute.

I also have an obsession with facebook. And bway world. And alcohol...what? Did I say that?
We like our wine in this thread LOL
LOL at the obsessive tendencies, Mauri. I'm right there with you....
haha! yes, we do enjoy our coctails around here.
And I LOOOOOVE Chicago. I lived there for two years and miss it very much. Cool city.

That's great to hear, BB. I enjoy a nice glass every now and then.
And, Mais, that's wonderful! My mom is an elementary school principal. I've definitely been thinking about going that route since I got this job, but something tells me teaching the little buggers is much more challenging than giving them a teddy bear.
I've decided I need to see Next to Normal this summer....I think I'll get tickets.

Oh, I desperately wanted to see that show! I was in NYC over Memorial Day weekend, but my hub made plans with his brother and sister-in-law during the time my friends saw that show and I missed it. I've kicked myself everyday since! Of course, now that Aaron Tveit is out with Catch Me If You Can, the pain has eased a bit.
Mauri- Which suburb are you in? I grew up in the Chicago-land area, on the Indiana side. :)

Luscious- I'm in the city proper now, but I grew up in Crete (right on the Indiana border!)

I've become quite obsessed with the soundtrack.

Hello Mauri. I see Maisie's reposted our handy dandy bios so you're all set.
So I just woke up around 12n...yes I'm a slacker, deal with it!!! My dog Frenched me yet again and when I went down stairs my grandmother was in the kitchen and out of no where she playfully slaps me in the back of the head and in memoriam of Michael Jackson said "...Who's BAD?!" and did the patented MJ crotch grab and "Ow". It was weird...oh so very weird.
Well I wasn't scheduled to work today but some guy is being an ass and called out "sick" or what I like to call "glued to his bong, watching Wow Wow Wubbzy and eating all the Funyuns". Mind you I'm not complaining I could definitely use the money, but today I was planning on scoping out some spots either near the Neuse River or Atlantic Beach for my grandparents' upcoming 29th Anniversary lunch. Dangit!!!!!
I gotta go but you girls have a pleasant day.
XOXO
Tofu
Yay, Mauri...representing Chicago! I'm in Ravenswood and love it. And yeah, crazy weather lately but it's supposed to be beautiful next week.
Oh and an addendum to my description: is extremely hungover right now. Went to see my most favorite local musician (and dreamboat) last night. Lots of liquid courage to go up to him at the end of the night to introduce myself, tell him I love the new CD, great show, etc. He thanked me for coming to the show and gave me a kiss on the cheek. Of course, I email my friend this morning w/ the subject line "Brad Peterson and I made out". LOL

YES!!! You better tell me when!
For sure, Clever!!

Great story, newgirl! I get the same way whenever I meet actors I secretly fancy. (P.S. I'm in Rogers Park, so we're practically neighbors.)
Morning Ladies! although it's technically afternoon - I woke up at 1 PM when my cat started assaulting my face because she was hungry. I'm now sitting at the computer depressed it's raining because I really wanted to try to go for a jog today. poop.
Hi mauri! What kind of dogs do you have? (if I overlooked the breed I'm sorry I'm still waking up)
Off to grab some breakfast!

I didn't mention that, Shh. They're a Lhasa Apso/Shih Tzu and a Bichon Frise/Shih Tzu. This is them after they got their "summer" haircuts; they're usually much fluffier.
OMG so cute! Tofu has an adorable dog too!
