CapnHook ---I agree.

But I would really like to see them have a TCM-like channel, with all that you mentioned, plus the old ORIGINAL Mickey Mouse Club, the serials like Spin & Marty, Annette, the classic '30s - '50s cartoons, newsreels, the show Disneyland, and all of their TV specials. Bring it on!

That's classic Disney TV.

But I'm getting a big kick out of reading these posts... It's like the 20-something's first taste of the "nostalgia bug" and "what do these young whippersnappers think they're watching!!??!!"

Too funny.

re: I Miss the Classic Disney Channel

I never got the Disney channel when it was showing good shows. When we got it, pretty much the only show(s) worth watching were So Weird and Boy Meets World reruns. I liked some of their original movies, but now all of those are awful, too. :P

re: I Miss the Classic Disney Channel

When I was little only special people had Disney channel because it was an extra cost channel. I remember the occasional week of free Disney I was glued to the TV watching Kids incorporated and MMC! While I don't really watch Disney now that it's free I think it does fill a void in the TV world. When I was little there were all kinds of shows on TV that were ok for the tweens to watch. Now, shows like Will & Grace are on at 8pm instead of Cosby show. There isn't much aimed at kids on network TV anymore!

What about: The Secret World of Alex Mac, The Secret Files (?) of Shelby Woo, CLASSIC All That, Kenan and Kel, Clarissa Explains it All and the morning shows: Gullah Gullah Island, Allegra's Window, Eureka's Castle. I grew up on those!

Oh wow, Eureka's Castle. I used to be so addicted to that show. I think I still have some old episodes that my mom taped, she used to play them for me when I was sick. I think it's about time to dig them out again.....

Face here! [fanfare]

I hated the updated face. And the new All That sucks.

Darn right, I haven't watched Nickelodean(sp?) in ages I'm too afraid to see how the new modern producers have mucked my childhood memories up.

re: I Miss the Classic Disney Channel

I loved 'So Weird' It was one of my favorite shows 'cause my brother and I would watch it together.

What about 'Out of the Box' on Nickelodeon? Is that still on? That was a show that I constantly watched when I was younger. And 'Blue's Clues' was probably my fav.

I used to love Arthur. I thought that was a great show.

I'm not a gay stereotype. I'm a coincidence.

CapnHook--remember also back during the classic Disney Channel days they had the "Dtv" cartoon music videos during breaks between shows.

OMG...people liked Blues Clues? Maybe it was because I had a baby brother when it was at it's peak, but I swear I wanted to punch Steve everytime he played dumb.

re: I Miss the Classic Disney Channel

Well, I guess I'm too young to know what Classic Disney Channel was, but I know there's a channel with all of the old gameshows that they used to have on Nickelodeon somewhere.

Oh, and I loved Are You Afraid of the Dark?
And then, do you know Monseiur Marius, I believe I was a little in love with you.

re: I Miss the Classic Disney Channel

it was great when they even had Vault Disney... which didn't come on until midnight. i used to stay up late during the summer to watch it every night.

they should take that concept and turn it into a channel. there's way too much that's missing. you can't even watch classic disney cartoons anymore unless you buy them!

What about: Figure It Out (with Summer Sanders!!) GUTS, Legends of the Hidden Temple, Double Dare, Lost and Found (Hide and Seek? what was it called...) OH! And the one where the two kids had to get people to do crazy things. LOVED THAT!!

I think Out of the Box was on the Disney Channel.

I loved What Would You Do? - that was the show with the pie coaster and the contraption that threw up to 4 or 5 pies at you. I used to get jealous, lol, of the people at the end who got to pick a number and had a chance to win a Tshirt or watch.

re: I Miss the Classic Disney Channel

I used to always dream about one day being on the show 'Wild and Crazy kids' and going to California, it was a lost cause to say the least, but I loved that show all the same. Ledgends of the Hidden Temple was stupid to me and so was Global guts, my brothers liked those kinds of shows. I preferred 'Clarissa explains it all'

re: I Miss the Classic Disney Channel

I HAD to reply to this... as I was reading I was remembering all of the old shows... I used to LOVE David the Gnome, Clarissa..., and I rarely missed "Are You Afraid of the Dark?" I still watch "Double Dare" when I see it every now and then (I used to love the physical challenges and obstacle course... I think every show on Nickelodeon required you to get slimy :)

I also remember "You Can't Do That On Television" - my parents banned me from watching that show as a kid. I watch it now and I realize it was gross humor... much more harmless than what you see on some stations now.

As for what's on now, I love Raven... that actually is a pretty good show. I agree on Zach and Cody... no kid in this day (especially in Boston) could get away with half of the stuff they get away with! Great thread!
