re: Should I or should I not blow off the AIDS walk this Sunday?

no walk or fundraiser is going to cure AIDS or relieve the pain for anybody suffering from it.

Tell that to the many people that receive services from the organizations that benefit from the walks.

re: Should I or should I not blow off the AIDS walk this Sunday?

As far as I have been informed, this charity does not give much help to the places it suggests that large sums of money go to. Perhaps I am misinformed about being misinformed.

The point is, I tried to raise money and was not very successful. Walking or not walking is not going to impact the amount of money I was able to raise. If the amount of money I was able to raise displeases some posters on this board I will apologize for that.

I have apologized several times for my original post. I really did not mean to offend anybody.

I don't know how else I can apologize so I give up!

Oh so is that what I think Lepetitefromage? I'll apologize for being a skeptical person as well (I'll apologize for everything in the world there could ever be to apologize for if that will appease this board) but please do not exaggerate my skepticism!

re: Should I or should I not blow off the AIDS walk this Sunday?

Nobody who's been offended is just going to up and say, "okay, I forgive you!" because you've committed the simple act of typing, "I'm sorry." People who say sh*t as stupid as what you said don't get the luxury of such instant gratification; they don't get off so easy. So if it's validation you're looking for, you're not going to get it until you prove that you've learned a little something about thinking before you speak. Saying you're sorry isn't enough. You have to show it. And now you'll have to deal with the discomfort of not having people immediately forgive you for however long it takes to do that.

re: Should I or should I not blow off the AIDS walk this Sunday?

Well thats a bit hard to do on a message board if actions speak and all I can really do is type.

I'm sorry if people doubt my sincerity but apparently I'm not allowed to apologize either. Would you like photographic evidence off all my charitable involvements now?

How is thinking before you say something hard to demonstrate on a message board? It's fairly obvious by reading the things people say who has and hasn't mastered the concept.

Of course you're "allowed" to apologize. You're just naive to expect that, given how deeply offended people clearly are by your tone about such a serious matter, people are just going to accept it right away. And that's just tough.

better not post what I really want to say...

osage08, I would suggest you do yourself a favor and just stop posting. With each blithering comment you dig your grave deeper. I'm trying very hard to keep a civil tongue since my patience with you was gone after your appalling, self absorbed, and shallow initial post. I praise the posters for being extremely polite in their responses to you. You'll not get that from me.

After days of joining the board you make a proclamation, putting on a show for all to see, that you're walking. Now you're looking for excuses to rationalize not following through with a commitment. Poor baby might get wet. Poor baby didn't raise much money. Poor baby doesn't like the charity's distribution. Poor baby wants to see a show instead of walking.

You joined this board a mere four weeks ago, yet you have the gall to criticize the board's lack of supporting you in the AIDS Walk? Are you for real? Or are you just oblivious to the fact that they may be walking themselves? Or supporting friends already? Or not willing to take a chance supporting an unknown poster who questions if this is the board to go to for therapy? Or an unknown poster who may just turn out to be a no-show flake? Or someone who puts their own comfort before their commitment?

Poor baby!

Rest in peace, Iflitifloat.

re: Should I or should I not blow off the AIDS walk this Sunday?

From now on I will be much more careful about what I write and the manner in which I write it.

That is in general and on this board, if I decide to remain on this board. I will say it one last time that I truly did not mean to offend anyone and I should have thought before I posted.

Ok you know what. I really don't care how this comes across anymore. I am tired of trying to explain and tired of trying to apologize. I am signing off now and I won't be posting again. Goodnight and sorry for even bothering on this damn site.

re: Should I or should I not blow off the AIDS walk this Sunday?

Yeah, don't let the door hit you on the way out. Maybe you should have taken a second to think this post through. What did you think people were going to say, especially a group of people who have a disproportionate number of people who probably already are a little "sensitive" about HIV and AIDS and the terrible toll it's taken on not only in the theatre community, but in their own lives?

I can't speak for all of BWW, but I don't accept your apology.

Enjoy Boeing-Boeing, you snotty little prig.

Best,

Mrs. Stone

PS - I would imagine the reason why JerseyGirl was able to get people from this site to donate and you weren't is because she's been a member of the site for several years. I don't know her personally, but we've been members of this community for a while, and I was happy to make a donation to her. As etoile has pointed out, who the hell are you?

I mean, good for you for wanting to do your part, but don't get all snippy because no one's bending over backwards to validate you.

Shame.

re: Should I or should I not blow off the AIDS walk this Sunday?

You know what, Phyllis, it could have been ANY issue--not just AIDS--and we would have responded the same because it's completely absurd. I mean, think about it.

1. Should I follow through on a commitment I made to help others or just say "F*** it!" and go see a rip-roaring sex romp?

2. What's the point of participating in an event that isn't going to transform the world from evil to good by the time it's over?

3. It's going to rain and be all yukky! I'll ruin my shoes, for godsakes!

4. It's a waste of time to be involved in something like this because I only "squeezed" 20 bucks out of my mother!

5. Why aren't YOU PEOPLE giving me money for this? It's YOUR fault!

6. Geez, I said I was sorry. There's no pleasing YOU PEOPLE! Don't YOU have any compassion?

7. YOU PEOPLE simply don't appreciate me! I've been here for one whole month and now YOU are driving me away!

8. I don't get it. I came here to seek the guidance of YOU PEOPLE...rather than do "eenie, meenie, minie, moe." And THIS is how YOU PEOPLE treat me! I thought you would feel HONORED that I chose you over "eenie, meenie, minie, moe"!

9. I'm totally confused. I ask you if I should shirk my responsibilities so I could go to see a SHOW and YOU PEOPLE get all pissy with me. HRMMPP. I thought this board was all about SHOWS!

10. YOU PEOPLE are the ones who informed me about how shady this non-profit organization is, and that's why I'm dropping out and using my mom's money fir student rush tickets. YOU PEOPLE are to blame!

11. YOU PEOPLE are all shallow, insensitive and self-absorbed. I'm asking you for advice and mercy here and all you can do is slap me on the wrists for one tiny little remark I made without THINKING first. Well, excuuuuuuuse me!

I could go on and on.

You know, I can be compassionate and forgiving in this case...depending on how old you are. If you're very young, then I understand that you don't know any better. But in that case, I want a word with your parents.

re: Should I or should I not blow off the AIDS walk this Sunday?

"I have not had the misfortune of being personally affected by it."

and that's it in a nutshell or you would NOT even posted this stupid, self-centered post.
And asking for it to be deleted does not change your post.

shame on you

I hope you enjoy your little show.....perhaps as you watch it you can think of my friend Davyd Apple, who I watched waste away, helpless because all I could do was be there and remind him who I was.

Or think of my friend Jimmy, going under the knife next Thursday for an AIDS-related illness....

or my partner and the multitude of pills he takes every day.

SHAME ON YOU......and yes, go away, run away.....you do NOT deserve to be here.

You ask a question, get honest answers and then you have the nerve to tell us we are too sensitive?

go away, you are simply disgusting....selfish, and truly not a nice person

I'm certainly not defending what osage08 said, because I told her exactly what I thought about it. However, I can say that I know for sure she wasn't intentionally trying to offend everyone.

re: Should I or should I not blow off the AIDS walk this Sunday?

I don't think anybody thinks she was trying to intentionally offend anyone; it's clear she had no idea what she was saying was offensive, and was totally surprised by the harsh reaction. But, really, still... how can you suggest that you're considering "blowing off" a very important organization for your own totally selfish enjoyment, talking about it like it's totally inconsequential, and not have even the slightest idea that it's going to upset people? Last night, when I was reading this, I kept asking myself how osage08 could possibly think people on this board were going to sympathize with her the way she was talking about the AIDS walk, and with her stupid, selfish reasons for not wanting to go. And this morning, I'm still confused.

Whoa, those last two posts just disappeared. They came back when I hit reply.

It is, but it's also much easier to just assume everything is a sock puppet than to consider that there actually are people that stupid out there. re: Should I or should I not blow off the AIDS walk this Sunday?

"As far as I have been informed, this charity does not give much help to the places it suggests that large sums of money go to."

Did you actually look into this charity yourself? It sounds like you are just taking people's word as proof. Do your own research, and make up your mind on your own, lemming.

Maybe you should just stay home. The walk is for people who want to help. It doesn't sound like you care at all.

Enjoy your show.

re: Should I or should I not blow off the AIDS walk this Sunday?

Yeah, so you didn't raise a lot of money. It's not just about the money. It's about visibility. It's about 45,000 people who care and have the desire to do what they can getting together and walking in unity. However, if you don't care, I guess there's no need for you to show.
Pretty pretty please don't you ever ever feel like you're less than f**ckin' perfect!

re: Should I or should I not blow off the AIDS walk this Sunday?

I agree, JG2, it's not about money at all!

Even though the original post has been removed, I pretty much summed it up in my last post.

Did anyone else get a nasty PM from osage following their posts?
