Just saw on the news that the books were shipped from the printer to the bookstores TODAY!!! The cover looked great!

Yeah, JKR has actually said she won't divulge who hooks up with who because she enjoys how much people get into it and doesn't want to spoil it. But she has ALSO answered a question about Harry and Hermione hooking up with, "Do you really think they're suited?"

She once answered the "Who will Hermione end up with?" question by saying, "Isn't it obvious???" The only ship with canon (in the book) subtext is Ron/Hermione.

I finally pre-ordered it today, amazon should let you use super saving shipping and still get it on the release date, I had to pay $3.99 shipping, an outrage!

Blu, that's actually the reason why I chose to reserve a copy at B&N. I would rather walk to get my book than pay $4 extra.

So how will we discuss this book here? I don't think one thread works since we'll probably be reading at different paces. Yet a separate thread for each chapter seems excessive. Maybe break it out in blocks of chapters? Like Chapters 1-5 talk HERE! Chapters 6-10 HERE! Any ideas?

Simple. Make a spoiler thread once the book comes out. On that thread, anything goes. On this one, no spoilers allowed. If people look at the spoiler thread before they're finished and get spoiled, well, they were warned.

I plowed through "Goblet of Fire" and was sorry afterward because I wasn't picking up on the clues to the big Plot Twist (Who Was The Surprise Evil Bad Guy?). I lingered a bit more over OotP. My main thought right now is finding out who opens the earliest on Saturday morning - I refuse to go to WalMart, but I'll bet Super Target is open earlier than Borders.

I've already pre-ordered my two copies (at 40% off! Woot!) and will be able to pick it up in store at 12:01am! (I could have had it delivered to my doorstep on Saturday, but that's just an extra few hours of anticipation, which would nearly kill me!)

I may even crack out the Harry Potter costume. No, really.

I like the idea of two threads - I even think we should set something up for different chunks of the book, since someone who's halfway (in other words, page 3068 ) may have questions or comments and won't want to have it ruined by the speedy reader who's already near the end. Then again, I don't think many people would like us to clutter up the OT board with that many threads. Any ideas?

Well its summer, so it will probably struggle the next two months, and definetly pick up at back to school time, the only thing I worry about is when any remark that is even remotely school related, or even just considered "immature" by some will be banished to the student board while the poster is summarily harrassed...we'll see...

...For the moment Harry Potter on the student board may not be a bad idea, because I have a feeling many posters will be quite vociferously against too many Harry Potter threads

I thought it was just a board for student-aged posters. Hm. I also thought that students would actually have more time for message board posts during the summer, for obvious reasons.
