As everyone has been saying, it is never easy to say good bye not only to a pet but a MEMBER of the family. My partner and I lost 3 of our four kids within a years time and each time it was just as hard. You go and do what you need to do. He knows you love him and always will!

Now I need to explain to my office mates why I am crying like a big girl!

Oh, Kitz. You made me cry! He's beautiful, and all my thoughts are with you and your family. I've had two dogs die, and one of my others is 15 1/2 and probably won't be around much longer...it's not a single bit easier than losing a "human" family member. You did what you needed to do, and we're all here for you.

This news is very upsetting. My sister had two King Charles Spaniels and they were so very personable and intelligent that they really became members of the family. One of them actually prevented the house from burning down, and both of them could call "911" thanks to voice dialing.

Both doggies passed away within a year of each other. It saddened all of us. My son even planted a memorial garden in their honor.

The good news is, that my sister has just adopted 2 more King Charles spaniels and we're looking forward to the joy of having puppies around.

Kitzy, I think many of us have gone through this. I had a dog for 16 years. My little Bobby was the best dog ever and I'll never forget coming home to find she was gone forever. But I'm so glad I got to hug her that day before I left.
My puppy's only 2 now but I never leave for the day without making sure I get my hug and kiss.
We'll both be thinking of you now.
