(No, not adulterer. :P)
Srsly, there's something lame about the age I am now. I still feel 14, but I'm expected to be a fully functional and productive member of society. I still don't know what I want to be when I grow up, but I'm supposed to have grown up by now. And in fewer than two months, I will no longer qualify for the £5 young people tickets from the Royal Shakespeare Company. Also, everyone my age seems to be getting married and starting to think about kids. I know the fact I'm not following the crowd doesn't mean I'm defective, but that doesn't make me not *feel* defective. O_O
This isn't a mocky thread, I just felt left out and wanted to have a bit of a bitch about my age. Too old for teenager but not yet middle-aged? Bitch away!

I'm quite comfortable with my age, who I am and where I am. Growing up is not on the horizon, I can only bitch about not being able to order my new car yet because it's not on the market yet.
Take me in the back and shoot me, or do anything else you want with me.

I'm with you Weez. It seems like every time I log in to facebook someone else I graduated high school with has gotten married, bought a house or popped out a kid...
Can we feel defective together?

HA HA
Ya see how influential you are?
You're going to the school of your choice...
I wonder what car you'll be driving when you're my age (not that that is necessarily an issue)

Posted: 1/20/09 at 9:45pmI have to agree with you Weez. I'm finding the same stuff. And of course, none of it is happening for me. Well, I don't want the kids anyway, but still.

I agree, after finally decdiding/giving in to a teacher training course at the ripe old age of 25 I'm sick of people telling me 'it's about time you did something with your life' (that I went to Uni for 5 years and have worked for two seems to have escaped them)
And if I hear of one more person getting engaged I'll scream!!

Exactly! I don't want marriage and kids, certainly not yet, if at all. But the fact everyone else seems up for it is... well, frankly, it disturbs me a little. :3
I really enjoyed being 24 though, it was just 25 that sucked rather. I'm hoping 26 will be a massive improvement. :3

Posted: 1/21/09 at 8:51amI can't even think about marriage yet, let alone having children! I always feel like there's this pressure coming at me to decide exactly how the rest of my life is going to pan out. But to be perfectly honest, I like not knowing what's coming next! It makes life exciting!

Weez, I know what you mean. It's completely unsettling to see all my old friends getting married fresh out of college and pregnant 3 months after graduation. I don't know when it happened but somehow we (some women) have reverted back to the 1950s and see marriage and kids all by the age of 24 the end-all-be-all of life. It's like when you reach my age (22) everyone expects you to stop going to house parties and opt for cocktail parties instead, donning pearls and an apron after retrieving the spinach puffs from the oven for your husband and his guests from "the office".
I'm barely into adulthood and I'm already sick of it. Hopefully by the end of the summer I can move out of state from the rest of my family, because like a lot of other people that's where most of this overbearing pressure comes from. If I can get some distance from them I think I wouldn't be wound up so tight.

Posted: 1/21/09 at 1:57pmWeez - I remember feeling exactly the same way. I couldn't wait to turn 30. It seemed to be the magical number where people start taking you seriously.

Ugh, 22 is way too young for that. Your 20s in general is just way too young for that.

I don't know, I feel pretty comfortable. I've been saying, for about as long as I can remember, that I'd never have kids before 30. I'm too young and hot for that ****, I'm gonna live life while I can.
Now I'm thinking I might say no marriage before 30 and push the kids back to like 35, if ever.

I've never seriously thought about it. I've seriously thought about not having kids any time soon. I haven't thought about marriage since I was in high school and I'm glad that's in the past. What a mistake that would have been!

Posted: 1/21/09 at 2:56pmYeah, what I would like right now is a fairly decent job and to date around. However, my dating life is 0 because I just don't know where to meet guys, and I'm too afraid to just randomly talk to them.
#21re: I hate being a young adult ager
Posted: 1/21/09 at 3:02pmIt's okay Marianne, my dating life is also 0. I work all day long with people at least 10 years older than me, then I perform in local regional theaters at night where 98% of the men are either married or don't go for women. Thank god for friends haha

I just visited my friend today and her 3 week old baby. She's 39. Meh! You girls have PLENTY O'TIME!
BTW he was so cute and he snuggled right up on my chest and fell asleep the whole time.
Not that I'm trying to make you want a baby or anything.....LOL!
