Try and convince me otherwise - I've been to all 50 states and had ice cream in most of them. But Graeter's is THE BEST...
Their Black Raspberry Chip is killer!

Really? Better than this? Try the Swiss Orange Chocolate Chip. Or the Chocolate Malt Chips.

Ha Ha, you guys are looking at chains.
The Elevated Ice Cream Company has only one location, everything is made on site based on old family business recipes. Just peruse the site
Gottcha!
Craig- I LOVE Graeter's Ice Cream...it really is the best ice cream I've had too. I used to eat it all the time as a kid.
I worked at a Dairy Queen on the Wildwood Boardwalk for 3 summers, so I was taught to hate Kohr Bros since they were our competition. But to be perfectly honest, Kohr Bros is better haha
There is some ice cream company in Columbus that makes amazing ice creams in really crazy flavors, but the name escapes me. It's going to drive me crazy.
Googled it.
It's Jeni's. My favorites of the ones I had were Salty Caramel and Makers Mark Butter Pecan.

Better than the Creamery at Penn State U? That's the best in my book.

Granted, I have not tried everything, not by a long sight. But I would rate Cook Farm as second to Elevated Ice Cream. Again, everything is made on site, and in Cook's case, the cows are in the back. It's in Hadley, Massachusetts between Northampton and Amherst.

But to be perfectly honest, Kohr Bros is better haha
Damn right! I've only had it in Rehoboth Beach. Has anyone else here ever been there?
The closest Graeter's to me is 102 miles away in Warsaw, IN. It may sound pedestrian, but the best ice cream I've tasted in the US so far is the cheesecake ice cream at Cold Stone Creamery. Before that, it was banana at Australian Ice Cream, but alas, the Chicago locations have closed.

Keep this up and we may have a great list of ice cream places in the USA
LOL Blondebaby at Wildwood!! We go to Stone Harbor every year and Springer's Ice Cream is pretty damn good (pretty touristy and over-priced as well)

It's worth the trip to PSU's Creamery, should you happen to be anywhere near State College, PA. In business since the mid 1800s, about half of the Creamery's milk comes from a PSU herd of cows(maintained as part of the agriculture program) and the rest from local dairy farmers. It's where Ben & Jerry learned how to make ice cream.
The Creamery
I'm a huge fan of Bruster's. It's a chain, but they make all the ice cream fresh every day and it's AMAZING.
TimeSquare, I've been to Rehobeth Beach many times!
Oh wow danmag, Stone Harbor is right down the Parkway! So we're neighbors no matter what state we're in LOL
Me too, Stockard - great beach town!
With some awesome outlet shopping! I got a pair of Aigner boots for $10.
Rehoboth is TOPS! Have you had a Nicaboli from Nicolas?
FYI - Graeter's might have a few locations but it is NOT what I consider a chain.
The family owned business has been around for 4 generations - since 1870.
They have family owned recipes and they use the french pot process making no more than 2 gallons at a time.
Not only is their ice cream the creamiest I've ever tasted - but the chocolate they use is amazing. And it's not little chips in their ice creams. They pour in melted chocolate and use a padle to break it up - so you wind up getting odd shaped slaps of chocolate within the ice cream.
I'll try elevated as I've never heard of them before...
I've had Kohrs and Creamery - both really good. Just not better :)
I don't think so? I haven't stayed there since I was a kid.....my step mom has a condo in OC so that's where we stay now since it's free....LOL
We mostly go to Rehobeth for the outlet shopping now.
I did go to Dewey a few years ago.
Matt, you weren't a Bluebell boy?
