but a crown requires that they remove the tooth, install a steel pin for strength and then cap it.

That's an implant. With crowns they usually ground the tooth to a post and cap it.

If done right it should not hurt. If you read Jordan's posts it will hurt more. Do what I do . Put him on an ignore list

**Update**

I just got back from the dentist and I now have a new tooth and they did a great job. You wouldn't be able to tell which one is fake. My face is very numb and I can't feel parts of my lip but i am pain free and can eat. The process took a bit longer than I wanted, but they got the job done so its whatever. I will be taking lots of advil, but besides that i am okay. Thanks for the help everyone!

Thanks, Roxy. Teeth pain is the freaking worst. I hated having to hear and feel all those drills in my mouth. The worst was when I got my wisdom teeth pulled. I was in bed for 4 days sleeping because It just hurt like holy hell

I was in the chair for about an hour and a half. The dentist was 40 minutes late so that didn't help things. She did a great job though.

Still watch what you eat for the next couple of days. You want to avoid "hard" food like corn on a cob, ice, etc. Your crown is glued in and could come out.

So true, Artman. I just had spaghetti and Pizza and so far so good. She told me to try and not bite as much as I can, and if I need to, to do it on the side of my teeth. I'm also going to stick to juices and water, instead of the usual Sprite and Diat Coke that I love so much. The advil seems to be working.

I wish I knew, Phyllis Rogers Stone. I really didn't have a clue what they were doing to me. She did say I may have to come in in about about 2 weeks to touch some stuff up if it wasn't holding properly or if I was having pain

If you were there for an hour and a half, and your dentist was already running 40 minutes late, that leaves you with 50 minutes to complete everything. That's just impossible. Unequivocally impossible.

Where did you go, to Bob's Budget Dentist Clinic?

Caps and Crowns must be manufactured in a lab, using the impressions taken by the dentist. Almost every tooth in my mouth is now a cap, crown, or part of a bridge. So you can imagine how many times I've been through this. After the first visit, when I am fitted with a temporary, it usually takes at least 10 days until the permanent piece is ready.

And since your dentist was 40 minutes late, I can't imagine what you now have in your mouth. given the time you were worked on.

The Appointment was at 3:10 but I wasn't called back to the dentist's chair until about 3:50. When I got out of the chair and looked at my phone it was about 5:30. It's a temporary thing.
