I had the talk with my mom years ago. Her response, after hours of dramatic throwing herself on the ground was, "Oh, you are not. You just think it's the cool thing to do. I don't want to hear anymore about it." She didn't. I talked to her about the men I dated, but not women. So, now that I am committed and planning to move, I have to have the big talk with her and my father. I feel your pain. My grandmother did call me a month ago and said, "So... this friendship with ___ is more than friendship, right?" I played dumb. She said, "Amber, is this a LESBIAN relationship?" She made it sound so dirty...lol. I said yes and she said, "Well, okay. So, what do you think I should get your grandfather for Father's Day?" Simple as that. I asked her if she was upset with me and she said, "I have been getting upset with you for 32 years. My only fear is that your life will be harder, but you're an adult and I know this isn't something you came to easily." Last week, she sent my girlfriend a birthday card that was signed, "Lots of love, Nana and Granddad!" They are kind of amazing.

My point is, some will take it hard and be dramatic. Some will surprise the hell out of you. It's a bumpy ride but it's totally worth it. Way to go, kiddo!

Well, I consider myself bi (OMG, like NO ONE saw that one coming) and I have told friends (also a SPECIAL person on this website) but my family does not and WILL not know. At least not for a while. Although, my mom believes I am in an internet relationship with my friend, who is a guy. But, she told me that she would be fine if I was gay. My dad, the southern Baptist preacher, on the other hand would NOT be fine.
