Artscallion, isn't that a very young Debralee Scott?
madbrain---Love it!
Here's more Captain & Tennille!
Tina Cole was one of The King Cousins, and she was on My Three Sons. I remember, all the King Cousins (inluding the boys), doing a wonderful job with The Telephone Hour, from Bye Bye Birdie.
Anyone else remember when Carol Burnett would spoof The King Sisters, and the camera would pan down all these blondes (including Harvey in drag), and one of them would be Isabel Sanford, in a blonde wig? Very funny.
Speaking of Burnett...
Here she is tearin' it up with SAMMY!

Everything was orange and brown!
There were bad variety shows, too. Remember The Brady Bunch Hour?

My all time FAVORITE.
The variety show to END all variety shows.
Literally.
And...
Here's another vid with a very young Janet Jackson and her brother Randy tap-dancing as Shirley Temple and Bojangles!

Thanks b12b, that was great. They really were groovalicious, weren't they?
And the Bradys had a fake Jan because Eve Plumb wouldn't participate.

I really want the Julie & Carol specials on DVD!
No love for Pink Lady and Jeff?

They were one of the biggest flops in tv history...basically killing the genre. In 1980, a show was put together for a pair of pop singers from Japan known as Pink Lady...they were brought over, contracts were signed, etc....but they DIDNT SPEAK ENGLISH! So a hyper comedian named Jeff Altman was hired...I barely remember it, but I do remember it ended with the three of them in a hot tub before the credits.
I remember them well, but yeah, no love for them, at all!
I dont remember this:

David Copperfield looks like Brendan Fraser in that drawing!
and you can see pink lady in the back...in the "oh" so short shorts....1980.
That's the best ad EVER.
I remember the Big Show. 90 minutes of WTF!?!
...and "much more!"
Dont forget that summer replacement (LOTS of bad stuff on in the summers) was "The Starland Vocal Band Show" with ...oh no...Jeff Altman again!!
David Letterman appeared and was a writer:
I miss them too!
Loved Shields and Yarnell!
Jeff Altman was kinda hot.
...in an "I shouldn't think he's hot" sort of way.
