Rent...you do not need any special tapedeck convertor...anyone will do fine. I use the old one I had for my cd walkman. It works great. If you have a tapedeck in your car I think it's a better alternative than the radio transmitter.

it is beyond me why apple made a remote control for an ipod. the ipod itself is a remote control!
If you plug your iPod into your home sound system the remote control can come in handy.

If your iPod is in the little belt carrier and/or your coat pocket it's easier to use the remote than to take the iPod out every time you want to change the volume or something.
One incredibly frustrating feature is that the album info comes from the id3 tags. For example, I have Caroline, or Change on my ipod, but because the id3 tags don't differentiate the 2 CDs, it puts them all together and every other track is CD 1 with the CD 2 tracks in between. Does anyone know an easy way to remedy this?

In iTunes, make it clear that the first CD is the 1st of 2 albums. There's a "Disc Number" option on the right of the track info screen for that.

Well I'm working on getting a free ipod from the site. I have two friends who got them that way and I'd rather save $300 by going through the free iPods site.
what website?
That sounds too complicated for me. They make you jump through too many hoops. And I don't know if I could find enough people who also wanted to get one that way.

It's actually really not that difficult. It took me about 3 days to get my referrals for a digital camera. And to get a $300 ipod, I'd be willing to bug a few people to sign up. DJ--here's the site (through my referral link )
free iPod site.

it's sort of a pyramid scheme but not really. That made sense.

My iPod and I have a love hate relationship.. Right now I hate it becuase it froze up last night and still wont work.. It's still fairly new I dont know what's going on with it.. I can't live without it.. I use it constently.. I even called apple for support with no luck, they told me to leave it unplugged and sitting for 24 hours and then try it.. Any one have any suggestions?

Did you try restarting it? Also, don't bother paying for tech support before you try their message boards, which are free.
I tried reseting, I couldn't do a factory restore on it because low and behold the computer isn't recognizing it.. I'm so screwed.. I NEED my iPod.. i'm so pathetic

Eek- that sounds exactly like what happened to me. The "let it sit" solution sounds like letting the battery drain, basically. Then you can recharge and see if it's okay. That might work. It didn't for me. I ended up getting a new iPod since I was still under the extended warranty I bought. But the bastards at Best Buy refuse to replace my remote control. Grr.
Okay, enough about me. Try the Apple message boards- it takes a while, but you'll probably get a reply. Or you might find someone who had the same problem in a previous thread.

Mine froze on me twice and I was able to cold restart it without it being plugged in. Actually I was walking down 44th, heading back to Grand Central after work one day when it froze. I have to admit that I panicked at the thought of having an hour commute home without my iPod.
Toggle the hold switch 4 times, finally leaving it in the 'unheld' position. Then, at the same time, hold down the menu button and the center button. After a few moments the Apple symbol should appear and it will have restarted. With any luck, you won't have lost your music.

OMG.. I tried all of that last night and earlier this morning. but for giggles I tried it again.. It's working.. OMG it's working..
Thanks Guys!!! I was going to die..

shamrockboy - A possible remedy to the multitask car situation is to create a couple of playlists (or one hug playlist that includes every song) that include several CDs or individual songs. That way, you hear the CDs you would like to listen to without having to start each of them individually. Shuffle them to mix them up a bit if you want something a little more spontaneous. Just a suggestion...
The mini iPods come in really pretty colors.

The only thing about iPods is that when you first get it...you don't know what to do with it really. I got mine and tried to use it for the first few days (tried to use it A LOT) and it just wasn't clicking...but after 2 or 3 days, you start falling in love with it...and then you marry it...and then you two have little iPod children...and they go off to college, and get married and have kids, and watch them grow up-just like I'm doing now..Oh! *tear*
My iPod is bisexual.
