…and most times traits displayed in High School continue into adult life. Sometimes they are outgrown, ssometimes they are developed.

I totally disagree SNAFU.
I have meet people from my High School who were terrors...Absolute terrors.... who turned into really great parents...really terrific individuals.....
Some of whom, years later, I am now friends with.
Children are children...
If you are 37 and still think like a 15 year old, then you're Rosemary Kennedy!
In other words, somethings wrong...in the noggin..

Posted: 5/10/12 at 7:53pmNever said we had to still act like a 15 year old now did I? I said some traits are outgrown some are developed. To totally deny that part of who you are today is not founded, on some part, on who we were at 15 is kind of like shaking an etch a sketch. No?

I grew up in a very small town. It wasn't a big city at all. But, it was fun for them to pick on the skinny little fag.
And they did.
My most vivid memory was being pelted by condoms while walking through the quad, because I had given a girl flowers because she won a contest and I was happy for her.
It was straight out of the shower scene in CARRIE, only I wasn't naked and bleeding.
Or the time I was pelted with cement nails... That time, I was bleeding.

One of them found me on Facebook and actually met with me to apologze. He was very sweet about it.
And then he dropped dead about a month afterwards.
He may have know he was dying, but I will never know.

I don't think High School is easy for about 60% percent of the population...it wasn't for me either..
What amazed me was stories from the "popular" kids I met years later...some had a terrible time in High School fo reasons that I would never have known..
One popular girl told me (after many drinks) she got pregnant end of junior year- no one knew but her best friends - the in crowd - and they mocked her...made her life hell..
Yes, her own friends...her own clique...it was awful...

And, trust me, most of these people are exactly the same today.
No matter how much older I feel, I am always amazed at the 'High School Bull****' mentality of so many adults.

Maybe I'm lucky....I've had nothing but amazing experiences with these folks...some I see at least once a year...Some come into NYC and buy me drinks...lolol

I think what makes what Romney did in high school relevant is that he still wants to "bully" LGBTQ citizens by denying them equal rights. He's not even for civil unions anymore. So as far as I'm concerned this is fair game...because it shows a pattern he's continuing today.
And Obama actually talks about bullying a girl when he was young in his book. But he also talks about how sorry he is for having done that, and the lessons he's learned since. We didn't get anything like that from Romney.
And yes, we all do stupid things in high school. But comparing peeing in a sink to holding someone down and chopping off their hair is pretty lame.

When you want to be president EVERYTHING YOU EVER DID matters.
Bad judgement due to immaturity is not an excuse.

True.
Also, sure, everyone did some foolish things in high school. But I never got together a gang to hold a kid down and chop off his hair. And I never witnessed such a thing. That's not average high school hijinks; that's criminal behavior.

We should hold anything a child or teenager does in the same legal and moral light as an adult..
You know, when a toddler goes poop in his pants on the street...
Arrest him.
I can't poop in the street, why should he?
When a 10 year old calls another boy a "doody head"....arrest him...that's slander! Also grab him and tell him he's ruined - he can never be president!!!!

Guys, you're engaging one of this board's oldest trolls, who is indulging in the most trolliest of troll behavior.
I know, I know - it's hard to not respond to such outrageousness.

"God help us all if it comes out Obama made fun of the girl with the big jugs in 11th grade."
You have nothing to worry about. State run media will cover it up, just like they covered up all the made up girlfriends in his autobiography that was written by someone else.

I didn't say it wasn't excusable.
I said that for better or worse it will be held against him and as of indication possible personality traits, decision making skills, moral fortitude, and a basic ability to withstand peer pressure.
And how tired is the "boys will be boys" line getting anyway?
Besides being reductive it's fallible as any type of justification because every child is different.

What's objectionable is Romney's wishy-washy response to it. All he had to say was, "I was a jerk, and I have felt regret for doing it, and I wish I could've made amends."
But no.

Romney should have burst in to tears and begged everyone to forgive him....for his act of treason.... when he was 16...in 1965....instead of saying...
Hey - I was a kid - I screwed up..sorry..
Again, If this was Hillary Clinton...
