I was able to see the premiere of The Theory of Everything at the Toronto film festival. Both funny and touching, the film does a great job humanizing the iconic Stephen Hawking, played spot on by Eddie Redmayne. The film looks at his struggles with the progression of motor neuron disease (ALS) and his relationship with his wife Jane (the movie is based on her book). Given Hawking’s fame and the widespread awareness of ALS (thanks to the ice bucket challenge), I’d expect this warm film to get an even warmer welcome from the public.
