I finally saw CURTAINS last night. And have concluded, in my honest opinion, that no robbery took place.

Don't spend the money to tape this production. It is a concept that fails. Bad theatre does not make better television.
Raul Esparza is a talented man--but not in this production.

PalJoey, you didn't read the fine print correctly. It's not BEST LEADING ACTOR IN A MUSICAL who gave a great performance, it's BEST LEADING ACTOR IN A MUSICAL whose face TV viewers will recognize.

Posted: 6/28/07 at 10:32ami love raul. i think he's great. my wife would leave me in a heartbeat if he winked at her, and i don't even begrudge him that. but he lost. just like john kerry lost. i think what we're seeing here is the inability of people to accept that just because they hope and pray and use hoodoo incantations in hopes of something happening, sometimes it just doesn't. i sense the need for a support group. maybe a 12-step program.

Now Raul's Bobby will be seen on PBS by millions (or, well, hundreds of thousands) and remembered FOREVER!
That's better than any stinky old Tony Award.
I think David Hyde Pierce should totally go over to Raul's house the night the of the PBS broadcast, with takeout Chinese, and GIVE Raul the Tony.

Raul WAS robbed! I understand "Road Voters" were given a 'butterfly Tony Ballot" that made them THINK they were voting Raul when actually they were voting DHP. Also, voters in Ohio used machine manufactured by an old friend of the Pierce family. There were NO paper trails-- he could manipulate the vote any way he liked!
And I hear that DHP is considering declaring a "State of Broadway Emergency" and not allowing a Tony vote NEXT year so he can STAY Best Actor!
