re: in polite society, never discuss religion, politics or liam

"His private messages at times are lucid and 100% correct regarding their spelling structure."

I've never seen a message from him that wasn't lucid. I've also never received a PM that was spelled correctly (and I've received numerous PMs from Liam), but he has asked for my assistance in spelling before (and probably others as well including family members and other board members). Either way, it does not prove in any way that he is or is not the person he claims. If he is an older person masquerading as a challenged youth, then it seems his actual posts would be much more controversial in content. Other than his spelling, there is nothing about his posts that would draw anyone's attention otherwise. That theory simply makes no sense other than to give people yet another subject to ridicule.

I do find it quite funny that rather than accept verification of Liam's identity from people who know him (people know me, but for some reason no one ever questions that), they would rather insist that they somehow know more about someone they have never met.

As far as I'm concerned, there is more evidence that proves Liam is who he says he is than not. All the rest is flimsy circumstantial evidence that could easily be explained, yet has been verified by no one. I guess it's just more fun to demonize someone rather than accept them.

Sueleen - It doesn't bother me. Many of Liam's most ardent accusors have been pretty perverted as well.

(edit) Iproper use of quotations mislead me in reading BoxFive's post. I retract my statement.

re: in polite society, never discuss religion, politics or liam

Now MM, I am only saying it's a tad fishy regarding the ultimate truth regarding "Liam", if you are happy to embrace him and enjoy his internet friendship then fine and dandy.

My only concern is that "IF" he is indeed a pre-teen he should NOT be having several intimate conversations with some...how do we say..um..members of a certain older age group.

If he is a fraud, say if his IP address matched another long established posters IP address (like Dollypop's for pure example) then he should be exposed as such.

Thanks for the retraction, but I believe "Iproper" is also incorrect.

re: in polite society, never discuss religion, politics or liam

BoxFive - I agree about the improper use of IP addresses. I don't know how "intimate" his PMs are with other members of the board and it's really none of my business, but with me, it's always been harmless friendly chat. The internet is a tricky place. If I were a parent, I might not have a problem with my child's use of this particular board (though the OT board can be pretty raunchy at times), but rather, with other people's use of this board, which is far more suspicious and questionable than anything Liam has ever posted.

What I find so funny is that if you look at it objectively, most everyone on this board could be suspected of being fraudulent for a variety of reasons, yet Liam is a constant target. His behavior certainly hasn't been of a malicious sort, only his spelling has been the root of all the drama and is the only weapon the naysayers have in their accusations. Were this a legal case against Liam, it would be dropped in a heartbeat by any judge with common sense as nothing has been verified or proven by the plaintiff, yet there are witnesses to the defense.

Demonizing the untoward is a bigger sport on this board than criticizing musicals.

You caught me! I am obviously an imposter as well and deserve nothing less than cruelty, suspicion and abuse. I shall expect daily topics discussing the validity of my identity and 100's of PMs (which would be nice for a change). Well done!

Dang, people!! This really started out as a joke thread about not discussing sensitive topics in public. You guys are taking this WAAAAAYYY too seriously. Get out and get some sunshine and fresh air.

And for the record, I like Liam's posts and I don't care whether he is a 14 year old kid or a 50 year old man.

If anyone ever tells you that you put too much Parmesan cheese on your pasta, stop talking to them. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.

I wish I could go out in the sunshine! We've been having some lovely weather in Chicago that is going to change soon and I wish I could take advantage of it.

Agreed in earnest MM with most of what you have posted as it's content is sound regarding the view you have taken, perhaps I'll refrain from any more judgement regarding the validity of "Liam" at this time, we'll agree to disagree.

I also thought Liam was a sham when he first appeared, but then I took the time to get to know him. The people who doubt him really don't have much to go on other than having a much more dramatic and exciting bandwagon to jump on. If there was some sort of hard evidence to prove otherwise, I just take him for face value. Why not?

re: in polite society, never discuss religion, politics or liam

Like I said, this obsessive Liam witch-hunt says more about its perpetrators than about Liam himself. What motivates someone to constantly pick and pick and pick at a relatively harmless poster like that, just because he or she suspects- with nothing but the most subjective evidence- that said poster isn't who he claims to be? Why this overwhelming need to "expose the fraud"? Turn that energy to something useful, or at least something less destructive and cruel. You're making the board a nasty place.

1. Liam is 14
2. What members of a certain older age group are you talking about?

I find this interesting. Should Liam avoid conversation with a) Older heterosexual women, b) Young Adult Heterosexual women, c) Older homosexual men, d) Young adult homosexual men.

I have a feeling you are alluding to the latter two, which I find highly offensive (although the former two are equally poor generalisations, the likelihood is that it is referring to the latter). But feel free to make this point clear...

A couple more things- Liam's defenders include DGrant and Emcee as well as munkustrap. Say what you will to that.

Second, I don't know if dyslexia is what Liam has, but I do know that people with that particular problem can spell a word correctly at one point and incorrectly the next.

What am I, chopped liver? I may be opinionated, but I hope I have never come across as deceitful or untrustworthy. I do try and approach my arguments with diplomacy and objectivity, which probably makes me seem less "cool" or interesting.

re: in polite society, never discuss religion, politics or liam

Just to clarify, I'm not saying you have to believe Liam is who he says he is. But if you don't, please, for the sake of the atmosphere of the board, just stop attacking him. You've been doing it for months to no end. Do you think the 50,782nd sarcastic attack on him will do the trick? Come on. Just relax and ignore him if you don't like him. He's not harming anyone.

"OH YES, bother me it does, the tragic and pleading Munk is a leader in bad taste."

Thank you! Best compliment I've recieved in years!

And if people can't take a joke (my old "quote") then you seriously need to loosen up.

re: in polite society, never discuss religion, politics or liam

I truly don't understand why people are still contemplating this. Why would I insist that Liam is who is says he is? What am I getting out of it?

About the IP addresses, I'm pretty sure IP searches are run pretty regularly, so you don't have a good point there.
