You should never feel insecure about something like this. Even if someone doesn't respond to your signs or whatnot it's in no way a reflection of your worth.

You're getting a lot of good advice here; much of it, I'm sure based on experience. Never apologize for being willing to give your heart away; someday someone is going to be worthy of the gift. Doesn't sound like this guy's the one, though, no matter how much you wish that he was, so take a deep breath, reflect on what was good, and move on.

If you are out and he is not, what kind of relationship are you expecting from this? It's one thing to have feelings for him, but don't lose perspective. It sounds as though you may have expectations that cannot be fulfilled. It's ok to have feelings for the guy, but you have to decide if a part-time closeted relationship in which you have no say or contol is what you want.

i don't like the CQs (aka Closet Queens). they ALWAYS have a tendancy to turn their inner feelings out on you. has Brokeback Mountain taught us NOTHING?! i don't wanna be on top of a mountain with some man projecting his feelings out on me like it's all me feeling it.

It has. You have just freed yourself for bigger and better things. That doesn't mean you won't feel badly (aka, lonely, sad, regretful, angry, etc.), but that's okay. It's a healing process.

So, now you can start to heal.
