Plus the movie apparently just flat out sucked.

Taz - does that REALLY matter?
And on the topic of franchises within genres - I've never really been a fan of spy/thriller type things. But I have to admit that Matt Damon and Daniel Craig might make me re-evaluate my attitude.
Put them together, with me as the filling in the sandwich, and I'll die a happy man.
Hi kids!
Hi, Daddy!
I just slid 7 miles up the West Side highway in a cab driven by an escapee from a lunatic asylum.
Daddy needs a drink.
I have always love spy thrillers. And I have always loved fantasy. But Lord/Rings and Bourne are indeed superlative examples.
"I just slid 7..."
I was so hoping that next word would be inches.
hi Jailykins! Glad you're ok.
DG - I'm playing Etta's "Matriarch Of The Blues"!

Taz - I hadn't seen any of the BOURNE flicks, but just saw the first one. I'm definitely getting the other two.
And BOND has ALWAYS bored me - I just never saw the point to any of it. UNTIL Mr. Craig came along. I think this screenplay had a lot to do with it (obviously,) but I can tell you that seeing that man tied naked to a chair just about got me arrested in the theater!
And I've always been a little more lenient with 'fantasy' flicks - maybe because I was 14 when the first STAR WARS came out. I loved the RINGS trilogy.
And we won't discuss Viggo. My obsession with him goes back to WITNESS
Did you see viggo naked in Eastern Promises?
And LOTR is my favorite movie of all time. (I consider them all one)
I love the BOURNE movies, but I think that has to do with the kinda miscast Joan Allen. And Matt was better when he was younger. His appeal's kinda worn off. I think Joan does better in the weird stuff, like UPSIDE OF ANGER, or THE ICE STORM.
I've never liked the original Bond movies, but I like the ones with Pierce, and Daniel's freakin' dreamy.
I'm okay fantasy movies. I could barely stand the first Ring. I stayed in the theatre because I didn't want to waste my $7. They were pretty, but nothing happened. I love the THE LION, THE WITCH AND THE WARDROBE, and I'm looking forward to PRINCE CASPIAN. At least there's enough action to keep be interested. And the fabulous Tilda helped a lot with the first one. If that's evil, then who wants to be good?
ETA: Oh, Taz, I don't think we can be friends. Seriously? It's your favorite movie of all time?
Unquestionably nitsy. I love them. I have loved the books since childhood and I think the movies are simply artistic perfection.
Hey sweethearts.
I tried reading the books a few years ago, but again, nothing happened. Just a bunch of pretty descriptions and a lot of telling. I know it's a novel and all, but stuff still needs to happen!
They created that whole "Show, don't tell." rule for a reason.
I guess that's why I like screenplays. Maybe I'd like the LOTR screenplays better. Maybe. I'll let you know.
Oh, and duh.. I love Harry Potter.
hey jersey!
How is HOME??
Hey, JG2!
Hey JG! How's TN?
Harry Potter isn't all that nitsy.
Tragic. Apparently someone very close to me, as in a parent, has developed what the other is calling an alcohol problem. There was a falling down situation after a party tonight. I am in hell. Perhaps it was just a celebratory thing. Who knows? I guess I will jusst keep an eye on it.
I wish I was back in Jersey.
Oh dear. I'm so sorry.

I'm a freak for the Potter books - the films, not so much (though they do have some highlights for me.)
And I view the LOTR 'trilogy' as one film, myself. Can't say it's my favorite, but it is (to my mind) and unquestionable monumental achievement. Which is why I was a little flummoxed and bamboozled by KING KONG, which I had REALLY looked forward to!
I guess we'll agree to disagree. I think the Harry Potter books are fabulous, and the movies, even though they suck for the most part, are fabulous, because it's Harry Potter.
At least stuff happens in Harry Potter. Except the last book... it kinda sucked.
Let me clarify, I'm referring only to the potter movies. I don't read the books.
I really liked King Kong too.
Thanks, Taz. I am just crossing my fingers that it was nothing. It's not something that you want to deal with, especially around the holidays. Tomorrow should prove interesting. We'll see.
But it was wonderful to see my old friends.
The books are so much better than the movies.
I haven't seen KING KONG. I loved the original.

JG2 - I don't know what's going on with you, but I do hope everything is ok. Should we send someone buxom to attend to your needs?
KING KONG was confusing to me. I just didn't get the flow of it at all.
And then there was the Brontosaurus stampede, which actually made me angry in the theatre. Even in a fantasy film, I need to have at least SOME semblence of plausability.
