I was casting a show once and this middle-aged community theater diva was doing that song. Except she sang it:

Tomato, tomato
potato, potato

The choreographer and I had to excuse ourselves and leave the room we were so out of control with laughter.

Needless to say, I didn't cast her. The producer got an angry letter from her, after all she had played Mame in 7 different productions. (It wasn't MAME that I was casting, however. It was a production of HIGH SPIRITS, the musical version of BLITHE SPIRIT.)

me too. and my hubbie (rolls eyes) doesn't know who she is.I tried to explain, unfortunately, I started with "She's Gwyneth Paltrow's mother" and I lost him after that. He decided she wasn't famous. I even pointed out her cameo in that MASH episode but he had no clue.
