you're such a dirty girl!
Would you have me any other way?
No, really, would you? How would you have me? I want details.
I believe this was a discussion about SAILOR MOON. scott, must you make everything about you and you and nothing but you? Marvelous, novelist you?
Oh, Stagey... do you really even have to ask that question? You know the answer already.
And unrelatedly, I'VE had that song in MY head all day! Weird.
JRB is an asshole in person, but an amazing composer.
How do you know he's an asshole, taz? Did you have the pleasure of meeting him?
We have a mutual aquaintance.
Who is this?
I've heard from friends who've met him that he is indeed a bit of an ass. Oh well... it's worth it to have Jamie and Cathy. (And really, looking at it, wouldn't it make sense that Jamie is a bit of an autobiographical character?)
the lyricist/composer of Parade and Last 5 Years matty.
Oh.
I haven't heard those.
Really? Zac starred in a production of Parade.
You are MISSING. OUT.
lol. Tazzy you are too funny.
Seriously though, they are both simply amazing scores.
The kind that induce chills.
I think ive heard one song from Last 5 Years.
It was this woman singing about an audition? I think.
"Climbing Uphill." It's one of my favorites... although I literally don't dislike any song from the score. Okay, maybe "I'm Still Hurting," a little bit, but only because it's so freaking whiny! But character-appropriate, of course.
I don't love all of Parade like I do L5Y, but it's still a great score. "The Old Red Hills of Home" is one of my favorite songs from any show, ever.
I was quoting "See I'm Smiling" from L5Y, mateo.
There's not a song in either that I don't love.
Fave for L5Y is "If I Didn't Believe In You" and I simply can't choose one from Parade.
Were these Off Broadway shows?
L5Y was. Parade was a Bway flop. Although it won best score.
It's a very serious show with no comic relief. Way ahead of its time.
Last Five Years was off-broadway, Parade was on VERY briefly but still managed to pick up the Best Score Tony.
It's funny, Taz, the first copy of the L5Y CD a friend burned me accidentally left off "If I Didn't Believe In You," and maybe because of that, it's never gotten to be one of my favorites. I think my favorite would have to be "We Can Do Better Than That," although "The Next Ten Minutes" is just... wow. Now I have to go listen to the whole show! Thanks a lot, bitches.
Btw, it's about the true story of Leo Frank, a southern Jew who was wrongly accused of raping/killing a little girl who worked at a factory.
I really love Cathy's first song "Still Hurting." Besides the truthful lyrics, the cellos (or are they violins?) always get to me.

I'm pretty sure they're violins...psh, that's all I get for playing a year of it!
Good morning all. I up a bit early. I can definitely sleep another half hour. I hope everyone had a great night!
I have a long day today which includes an invited run of ON THE TOWN to get acquainted with the show before stepping in for costumes.
LOVE Parade and L5Y. I love a lot of Parade, I feel like you have to see the show to appreciate the other songs.
I feel asleep with my hair wet and now it's a mess. :/
