Hi all!
Sweeney was brilliant. Especially the man himself, really good. Some of the direction was a bit crap, but the show itself was a joy. We were sitting in row D (my mom booked tickets for the wrong evening by accident, but they moved us to tonight's performance and to there). It turned out to be the second row.
Well, to say we were drowned during (I think it's called) Epiphany is an understatement.
And for some reason just before the opening I rubbed by jaw and said to myself; "Hey, I forgot to shave". Am I thick, or am I thick?
Anyway, great evening.
And Big Celebrations for Part 6! Wohooo!
I'm glad you finally saw it Linnie. It is one of my top 5 all time faves!
Was it a big production?

No, not really. There were only 7 or 8 in the band (compared to like 25 in the full orchestration). Sweeney himself was brilliant. Ms. Lovett was a little on the old side. I didn't get why they all took off their wigs when they died.
As a show, I loved the music (I already had heard The Ballad, Worst Pies in London, and The finale of Act One), and the lyrics and book were great, often hysterical. The Epiphany thing was a highlight, he was so into it, he was amazing. And we were right up close and intimate, too.
*SPOILERS*
I didn't ike the old guy whipping himself. And I could see the old beggar woman being the wife Lucy coming from a mile off. But I loved it nonetheless. Direction was weird, she had a little keyboard instead of a harmonium. She also had calculator. The costumes were a little too colourful by comparison. And the gun was all too modern. Loved all the trap doors, etc. Loved how he leaps out from a trap door dead centre downstage for his enterance in the Opening/Finale.
*SPOILERS OVER*
So you DID sit in the spit section, Linnie!
Congratulations all! Sinful Six!
And Rath, I am not pissed - I knew I was going to miss the opening of the new thread because I knew today was going to be another long exhausting day with the parental units on LI.
Hey Deet! Sorry about your day. Just keep thinking about Florida.....
Oh yeah. I'm calling my sister even as I'm typing...
"Come and get them!"

"...Get rid of 'em..."
Hi tazzy, no cold pizza for dinner tonight ::stern look::
D2 -- I can just imagine....I wonder how that's going to work out in my family. I know my parents won't move back East with me, but I sure the hell am not coming back here once I receive liberation when Flipper goes off to college (unless we more her to a more equipped elite gym sooner, there is this one in Pennsylvania....)
will stop dreaming now.
No ma'am! No pizza for a looong time. Tonight was the ususal salad and some fake chicken nuggets (I'm a vegetarian).
Thanks, Radi. I honestly don't know which is worse: losing them at a young age, when they are still relatively vital, or watching as they disintegrate before your eyes. D2'sJ2 lost his father 14 years ago, his mother died 6 years ago. It was tough, but not as bad as what we're going through now with my parents. They really are like children - naughty, unruly, children who at one time were the authority figures. It's heartbreaking, exasperating and exhausting.
Yeah I know ...so are me and Flipper which is more problematic 26 hours of gymnastics every week burns off every ounce she eats. I was worried about her protein intake (she's very fussy about what she eats), but recently found that she LOVES the Morningstar Farms (soy) chicken strips and they are really protein infused.
She seriously lost about 3 - 5 pounds after surgery, and she was only 63 pounds as it was...now she is a rail....I am intent on getting her weight back some up this week.
RG I live on Morningstar. I exercise a lot too and they definitely help keep my weight normal.
So do we...those chicken and steak strips are awesome -- she's not a fan of burgers..
D2. I agree...my grandmother died abruptly when I was 9....she was only 61, my Father and I never recovered from that loss, but Mom's folks are now in their 90's and just moved in with my parents...it's been very hard to watch the decline in the past decade.

Oh yeah, I meant to add to that earlier discussion of height and weight that I'm 5' 8" and about 115 or 120 pounds. Can't remember the last time I weighed in.
I did a Body Mass Index thing a couple of months ago and I had 18.1, which apparently is slightly underweight, but acceptable. I have no clue.
Another late night, Linnie?
linnie don't worry C1 is 6'1 and when he was just turning 16 he only weighed about 115-120, but in the past six months I have noticed him filling out he 123-127 now...but I doubt he's done getting taller yet so who knows.

And yet I look at myself in the mirror and call myself fat. I must have Lohanism.
Not too late, D2. it's just after 2, I'm bedding soon.
5'8, 115/120 and you think you're fat? Are you serious?
Lohanism
Classic!

Not weight-wise, but looks-wise, Deet. I have one damn huge ass. Everything I eat must go straight there.
And taz, I coin that one!
Then get off it and get thee on the treadmill, Linnie.
d2, you beat me to i, but I second that: Run, linnie run.
It's how I got back into a size 2/4 after 3 kids.

I wanted to join a gym this year and wasn't allowed. I had a friend who suggested we go together, but no joy. Perhaps cycling. But then you're still on it, aren't you? Hmm.
Anyway, I need to go. Nighty-night kids! Have fun.
Night, Linnie!
