Woo-hoo!

Today, AutoZone reimbursed me $12. Yesterday, I had to buy a new car battery, which cost me an arm and a leg... or approximately 96 bucks. But they told me that if I brought in my old car battery they'd refund me 12 whole buckaroos. So I did. Then I treated myself to dinner. re: Is That You In Your Avatar part 21? Legal Eagles!

My temp position last summer just called me to remind me that my $256(!!) invoice never went through. Jigga what what?!?!?

Ditto on the Happy Belated Birthday Goggles! My birthday is on Saturday! I'm going to be out of town for work this weekend, so I'll have to celebrate the next week.

My birthday week always brings me insanely good luck. THis week was no exception (other than the INSANE fever I got earlier in the week). I met a cute girl, I'm opening two shows out of town, and I just found out I got into a 2-day songwriting masterclass with William Finn! so exciting!

That's fantastic, Akiva! I've met a decent number of "celebrities" (in the Broadway sense), but I made the biggest damn fool of myself in front of Bill Finn. It's one thing to say that you love a performer's interpretation of someone's work, but how do you tell a composer that you have every recording anyone's ever made of all his songs, and he can make you cry like a baby at a moment's notice? Awkward.

Scott,

I definitely hear you. I had the chance to talk to Lin Manuel Miranda two nights after he won the Tony and my friends were all pushing me to talk to him and I couldn't. I just froze up and couldn't even begin to express how much he inspired me.

I'm sure it'll be the same with Finn. I'm in awe of his ability to write so truthfully and capture the grey areas of life: His characters are flawed, and his songs live between heartbreaking and hilarious. (Hah I wrote something to that extent on my application). And now I have to write a bio to send to him so he can be familiar with me going into it...

On an unrelated note: not sure that I've made a conclusive judgment about Twitter, but I do know I love Joshua Malina's tweets...he is hysterical.

kind of..but not really...I only starting really playing with it a couple days ago, most of 'people' I follow are organizations, many good quick links to really interesting articles-- cuts down on the muss and fuss of FB.

I actually think it's got the most potential for long-term grassroots organizing.
