That snuffleuppagus picture scares me. I turned straight for about 5 seconds there.

Back from clarinet, btw.

The rain we knew is a thing of the past -
deep-delving, dark, deliberate you would say
browsing on spire and bogland; but today
our sky-blue slates are steaming in the sun,
our yachts tinkling and dancing in the bay
like racehorses. We contemplate at last
shining windows, a future forbidden to no one.

I alternate between ones that I make myself from scratch (when I get bored), and either Vandoren Black Masters (#4) or the new Rico Reserves (3.5), which are oddly, just about the best reeds I have ever played in my life.

I also have about half a dozen boxes of Mitchell Lurie Premiums, 4.5, laying around.

Ok, I'll try to type it out, but I am really bad at putting my feelings down in words, so be patient with me, lol!

I'm all for sticking up for your rights. I should never not get something I want because I am a female. But I also don't believe I should be given something because I am a female. I should get things because I worked for them and deserve them. I have met a few too many women that have tried to convince me otherwise. The details are boring.

At least someone did, taz.

Jaily, we sound like we're talking about cigarettes. I've always used Van Dorens, I should probably look at something different. Those Rico Reserves, that good, eh?

I only have half a box of Van Doren Medium 3s.

Then Tinky it seems you and I are of the same mind on feminism.
The academic definition of feminism is
A.) understanding a system of oppression in place
b.) actively working to end that system.

Which undeniably exist and which I most definitely am.
The problem, in my opinion, is a that people are generally narcissistic about this. Feminism isn't about you or me.... it isn't about getting what "I" deserve it's about systems that feed oppression:
-- in the U.S. Congress women account for 16% of representation in both houses....when we are 51% of the population. Of those women -- most are white, upper class, heterosexual women past their childbearing years.
-- 2/3 -- 80% of the world's population is living in serve poverty....of that number over 75% of those people are women and children.
-- the wage gap for women grows exponentially the more educated she is and the higher up the ladder she moves.
-- right now more women are matriculating out of college than men however women account for less than 5% of the administration of colleges and universities in the United States the ratio between men and women with tenured professorships is 51% v. 69% respectively.
-- women's sports gain less funds, playing slots and attendance than men's obviously that means they are paid far less than men. But why? Women play as hard...sometimes harder...but overall get dismissed in pop culture.

That my dear Tink is what makes me a feminist. I don't think we deserve anything more...but god knows we don't deserve anything less.

Tee hee. :)

I find Vandorens (the orig. blue box, at least) very, very inconsistent. The Rico Reserves (which I tried VERY skeptically, given the reputation of Rico reeds) are seriously some of the best reeds I've EVER played. They are affordable, they are consistent, and the sound is marvelous. You should totally try them if you can get your hands on a box.

So Tink and Radi are discussing feminism, Jaily and Linnie are discussing condoms, I mean reeds, so Boobs would you care to have a discussion with me about something?

I have a navy box with a purple and yellow stripe on it. Still, I always seem to get about 2 or 3 good reeds, a few average ones and at least 2 god awful reeds in each box.

valid points Radi, very valid. I would love to see a woman president, or a woman race car driver, or well you get the picture. As long as that person is qualified and dedicated to the position they were given, and not to personal agendas, I'm all for it.

I just think that with this situation (and well so many other situations) there are people going to such extremes that it sets the movement/any progress they made back. And that turns me off.
