I love that the latest Twilight book got AWFUL reviews... and even the fans apparently don't like it. Or that's what I read in Entertainment Weekly, anyway. It makes me chuckle.
Before I leave, I want to get through at least the majority of...
The Grapes of Wrath, John Steinbeck
The Sun Also Rises, Ernest Hemingway
The Plague, Albert Camus
Portrait of a Lady, Henry James
Orlando, Virginia Woolf
The Years, Virginia Woolf
The Satanic Verses, Salman Rushdie
A Prayer for Owen Meany, John Irving
The World According to Garp, John Irving
The Unbearable Lightness of Being, Milan Kundera
Lolita, Vladimir Nabokov
The Glass Menagerie, Tennessee Williams
... some of which are rereads. Oof. I have to focus!

Damn, Sam.
We won't be seeing much of you!
Someone recently recommended PICTURES AT A REVOLUTION: 5 MOVIES AND THE BIRTH OF THE NEW HOLLYWOOD. Among the movies discussed are BONNIE AND CLYDE, THE GRADUATE, and IN THE HEAT OF THE NIGHT. As a former movie buff and enthusiast, the book calls to me. I'm gonna get it tomorrow.

Oh, I love Naked! Really, anything by David Sedaris blows my skirt up.
His latest was such a change in tone for me. I mean, it isn't NOT funny, but it's more funny-weird than funny-ha-ha. Definitely not literal LOLing like his other books.
Glass Menagerie's done! Next is either The Plague or A Prayer For Owen Meany. I'm accidentally in the middle of both (but really liking both). I'm thinking Camus would be a better beach read (just so long as I'm not inspired to shoot an Arab or something).

I kind of liked The Stranger!
Call me bizarre, but I prefer CliffsNotes. Not because I consider it easy reading, but I like to read the essays and character studies and such. It's akin to me preferring to watch the DVD special features and "Making of..." featurettes to the actual movie.

You're right, Sam. There was a definite shift in tone in When You Are Engulfed in Flames. I think that's because he's getting older and has written so much that it's time for a change. However, this volume did have the Stadium Pal story, which always leaves me on the floor.
I like reading critical essays and academic introductions and such, but never before I read the actual book. I can't stand having someone tell me how to think about a book before I read it, or even telling me what about it to focus on.

I hate when a professor makes us read the critical introduction before we read the book because, more often than not, those pages are lousy with spoilers.
It's my first Sedaris book! I have no idea what took me so long! I also have "Me Talk Pretty One Day" and "Dress Your Family in Courduroy and Denim" because they all came in for me at the library at the same time! I really want to finish "Farewell to Arms" so I can start on "Catch-22" or "Election", both of which I feel certain that I'll like better.
P.S. The "PattiLuPoneGypsy" cast recording is BRILL!

Me Talk remains one of my favorite books of all time.
About that Gypsy recording, umm, share the wealth?

Mauri, don't I ower you EVITA or something?
Broadway Legend Joined: 12/14/05
Yeah, but Taz is going to take care of that when he sends me some other stuff, so you're off the hook.

Phew!
So what's up, Mauri?
Hey, mauri, wanna play a game? Let's see who can hold their breath the longest.

OK! Good thing I don't need to breathe to type.
I have no idea how to send it. I'm so technologically unsavvy.
Why are we holding our breath?

Sending stuff is actually pretty easy. What I do is create a zipped folder somewhere on my desktop, locate the song files on my computer, drag them into the folder, and then upload the folder to somewhere like sendspace or megaupload, and you're good to go.
Am I going to get arrested? lol

To my knowledge, no one on BWW has ever been arrested for PMing certain files. But if you're uncomfortable, then we can certainly wait and buy the CDs ourselves like responsible citizens.
Michael has gone crazy. I'm talkin' bat **** crazy!!!
He's talking about people reading his mind, talking about joining some kind of government group made up of other mind readers. He started crying earlier after saying someone was going to shoot their grandma. It's totally freaking me out and I'm not exactly sure what to do. I do know he's completely sloshed, but this isn't the first time he's been sloshed. I don't know if someone slipped him something while we were out drinking, but I'm totally, completely freaked out.
WTF? Should I call 911 and say that my boyfriend's paranoid and delusional? I'm scared. He's saying how he met me instead of joining this group and how I'm not the man he thought I was.
I'm going to show him this message in the morning and see what his reaction is. I hope he freaks out and says how f*cked up he was.
ETA: Sometimes it's 5 times he's been asked to join this group, another it was 17, now it's 7. He says he can read peoples lives.
I'm so scared. Help!!!
