re: Is it possible to lose 20 pounds in 2 months...?

i actually lost about 40 pounds in 4 months... i ran five days a week for about 30-34 minutes... and then another 20-25 minutes of cardio mixed in with very light weight lifting and sit ups... i gave up fast food the entire time and had lots of salads and lessened my carb intake drastically... no greasy foods... just very healthy.... it can be done... you just gotta be committed

I've lost over the last few weeks and all I did was stop eating out of boredom.

new studies are leaning toward the idea that exercise (WHILE GREAT FOR GENERAL HEALTH) don't do a lot for actual weight loss. I've lost 30lbs without any regular exercise routine.

Eat healthily and remember eating too little isn't good...your body need nutrients and calories to function well.

Sorry dramamama611, but I'd need to see a link to these "new studies". Because that's the silliest statement I've ever heard, exercise is the only way to HEALTHY weight loss. If you lost 30 pounds with no regular exercise routine, you lost a lot of lean muscle mass in the process. NOT HEALTHY.

Everyone needs exercise, everyone. No matter what your body looks like, it must be part of a routine like showering.

I just wish that someday we can all come to an understanding that body fat percentage and body weight are not the same. Scales are useless, muscle weighs too. You can lose pounds, but what you want is to lose the body fat percentage, not be lighter, that idea can be quite unhealthy and can lead to frustration over time.

re: Is it possible to lose 20 pounds in 2 months...?

It was a few weeks ago and made many news shows....I do not have a link as i never looked for written info. Remember: they didn't say it wasn't HEALTHY, and the reports didn't say that exercise was unneccessary. But as a tool TO lose weight it carried very little weight (no pun intended). DIET was by far the most important thing in the weight loss journey.

And I'm not saying it's definitive or even that I believe in it. (Nor am I proud that I don't exercise. I just hate it.)

I'm glad you're not saying you believe in it. Exercise and knowing how to eat well (not "dieting") is the only healthy option.

Yeah, excercise is important. You've got to be doing something to raise your metabolism to burn fat. If you just restrict what you eat you're not really going to lose weight.

re: Is it possible to lose 20 pounds in 2 months...?

I lost 12 pounds in the last month by cutting out bad carbs (white pasta, bread, and rice) and baked desserts (cookies, cake) and limiting high-fat foods and sugar. I also walk about 45 minutes more every day than I did in the past and drink a LOT of water. Everyone says I look a lot thinner, but I don't see or feel any difference, so just because you personally don't see results doesn't mean that they don't exist, since almost everyone else can see them.
