I think age chances that Shira.......it's just sad that we wait so long, you know?
I'd like to believe that changes, but considering I learned that from my 74 year old father, It's rather doubtful.
I know this is a minor thread-jack, but having lived in both New York and L.A., I'd say it was this:
You can live more comfortably in Los Angeles, because it's so spread out. It's deceptively large. People can isolate themselves here (physically), and live the way they want to. But they also end up cocooning themselves into their own little "ME" bubble. You can definitely tell the ones that have lived here a while. They are so INTO what they're doing, and rarely speak of anyone else. They'll talk about anything you want, but won't ask questions about PEOPLE (other than gossip). I'm out here, because it allows me to do the things that I want to do professionally, but that's it. If it wasn't for work-specific "location" reasons, I'd be living somewhere else in a heartbeat.
In New York, everyone's living so close together. They're very "in your face," but at least they're THERE and not isolated in protective bubbles. It forces more interaction as a result, though people are very into themselves and their careers as well. They can't isolate as easy as they can in L.A. That's probably a GOOD thing, actually.
Wow I've never thought of it that way but that's an excellent point.
Phantom, why don't you tell us what YOU think.
You ask us all the time for our opinions--some of us are genuinely intersted in YOUR opinions.
Phantom must not be from L.A.
Hmmm....I wonder if I'm really a NY-er or a Los Angeleno then.
I wonder if the LA in me allows me to detach from the world so easily.
