Are these musicals coming to Broadway??

I'd put money on:

  • Midnight at the Never Get (ATG is producing)
  • The Heart (Junkyard Dog is producing and wants to take it all the way)
  • Wild Rose (assuming that reviews/buzz are good at NYTW)
  • Benjamin Button
  • Greatest Showman

There are other possibilities in that huge list, but some of these have been kicking around for a looong time and just because they announced intentions doesn't mean they'll ever be granted a theatre and raise enough money to move.

What’s New ****cat? - no

Sinatra - no

Midnight at the Never Get - absolutely not

Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil - only because it's jrb

Bedwetter - had the director not passed away when this was at its momentum, it would have by now but is probably now not happening

Hippest Trip - more development

Millions - DOA

The Greatest Showman - yes it will

Wild Rose - wants to eventually

Curious Case of Benjamin Button - of course it will

Preacher’s Wife - tbd

Here We Are - this being included in your list is when I know you aren't serious with this post

Kiss My Aztec - off broadway probably

The Heart - if roundabout can it will

Wanderer - probably not

In Dreams - no

Secret Life of Bees - yes eventually

Destiny of Desire - don't make me laugh

Karate Kid - this should've came in a few years back

Burlesque - when pigs fly (and are the pigs paying for it?)

Standing at the Sky’s Edge - absolutely not happening

Spring Street - spent all its money already

Working Girl - more development

Ride - no idea

Gatsby - happening in london

Giulia - no

Teeth - no

Mexodus - no

La La Land - yes

Nero - if steven has anything to do about it, yes

Death Note - after london this is probably frank's next broadway musical

anyway... that was a bunch of engagement from BroadwayFlash BS and pretty much none of these are coming.

Re: Are these musicals coming to Broadway??

I, also, just heard a rumor that there will be a Jesus Christ Superstar revival.

Any truth/more info on that?

I know there are controversial, loud-mouthed people on social media, who start these kind of rumors. So, I wanted to check here and see if there is anything substantial behind that rumor. (I know some people here are particularly passionate about & knowledgeable about JCS, in particular.)

Anne Kauffman is very much alive!!!

Co-lyricist and composer Adam Schlesinger tragically died of COVID in April 2020, before the show had any momentum and before its two out of town productions. David Yazbek has contributed additional music/lyrics, though I don't know how much.

Tom Kirdahy and Barry Weissler are producing, so if they push hard enough and feel strongly enough that the show belongs on Bway, they should be able to get a house. (Whether the show actually sells is a different matter.)

Re: Are these musicals coming to Broadway??

We're playing this old game again? Just randomly listing every show (that Flash seems to be obsessed with), in various stages of development, from the past 5 years? If they happen, they happen. I don't think the answers have changed much in the last few months since this list was last posted.

Really? I'm intrigued... now well was it received in London?

I don't really know what ALW sees in this Tim Sheader production that's currently in London again. It's fine.

Cynthia Erivo & Adam Lambert might be the only pairing that the masses want to see right now. It would be idiotic to revive the show without mega-stars and a great concept.

Wild how BroadwayFlash goes from having top secret inside info from big shot producers on one thread to begging for info on thirty musicals in another.

"...everyone finally shut up, and the audience could enjoy the beginning of the Anatevka Pogram in peace."

Opens in a few weeks so no idea yet but I'm also biased as a death note fan!
