I know a lot are, taz, but a lot of regular posters are being easily pulled right over to sympathize with them, and it's astounding to me. How much do they know about the real issues on both sides? I'm willing to bet not much, and certainly not as much as they think they do.
This board is always so quick to jump on the "greedy producers" and while there is some truth to that phrase, it doesn't mean they are always the evildoing enemy of the people. Producers do love theater for the most part - otherwise they'd be doing something a lot more investment-savvy. So many people here forget that.
Belated congrats, JAG! Doing that show was one of my favorite experiences. (One of my fellow cast members from it is even on Broadway now. Who knew?)
New pet peeve for the day: People who call other people by their last names. They make me think of my middle school gym teacher yelling at me to get up that damn rope.
Oh I agree. Both sides need to find a compromise. I've had experience with unions before and some of the rules they make management abide by are nothing short of gouging.
And then of course you have management that would take advantage if unions weren't there.
These things are never black and white. Both sides are wrong.
The thing is the union is striking now to do the most damage of course. But if this lasts until the new year, the producers will have no incentive to compromise. It would be easier for them to sit it out in Jan-March than give in. That leaves a lot of people with no jobs for a very long time. The window of oppurtunity for a reasonable compromise is quickly shrinking.
Hey there, Vin!
If my last name was really Vin, I wouldn't mind so much!
(plus, my real last name brings up bad memories of a Corn Pops commercial from the 80s)
BTW, it took me a second to get that. I thought you were talking to vmlinnie for some reason.
I know, it was pretty lame.

Good day!
As in, I'm having a good day. I got another application into the mail and German Boy said hi, waved, and smiled in the hall before I even saw him, which NEVER happens! Then, I got samples of free post its in the mail. Yay! I love getting not-college mail!
Yay for DGG"s day! *throws confetti*
Happy, happy, happy!

Hallo, Rathie!
Ooh! And I just remembered that I have free tickets to see "1776" tonight, and my mom made brownies.
Which I will share.
I'm sitting here eating really disgusting "trail mix" left over from a shoot. Pass the brownies, please.
I'm sure it's more satisfying than fruit salad, Rath.

I love trail mix! Never cared for brownies. Except the Alice B. Toklas brand.
Actually, Deet, it's not. This is cheap dried fruit, nuts, and crappy candy. Awful. I was desperate for something sweet.
Oh. Yech. Where's the salt?
Yeah. I'm reduced to my cold leftover coffee.
btw, I think I just sent you an email to your home address by mistake. Might want to check.
I might.
Trust me, you want to know this info.
Hi, dolls. How be my lovelies today?
DGG, you're reading The Canterbury Tales! I got to read that in British Literature. Fun, fun, fun. Especially when we got the original text and I was the only one who opted to read a passage, complete with an English accent (for dramatic effect).
I need to find a new song for my Myspace page... perhaps I'll bring back Patti LuPone...
"Yes, the brutalities of progress are called revolutions. When they are over, men recognize that the human race has been harshly treated but it has moved forward." - Les Miserables
I have an idea. Why don't we just change the title of this thread to THE DEETERS & RATHY SHOW.
They fight, they fight
They fight and fight and fight
Fight, fight, fight
Fight, fight, fight
The Deeters & Rathy Show!
During the day. At night it turns into the "It's All About Stagey" show.
