I can't imagine anything harder than that decision. It is the only thing I dread for my baby. But, she was with you longer than most doggies could hope for and it is time for her to rest. Take comfort in the fact that she had a wonderful life, she had a lot of love and security and she will leave peacefully and go someplace wonderful where she'll wait to meet you again. I really feel your pain, but keep all the happy memories and smile, because I am sure your baby will hate to see you sad !

Awwww that's so sad...but 17 years for a dog is a nice long life...and the love I know she got from your family will help her go peacefully. My thoughts are with you and your family Liotte...and of cousre Goldie.

I had to do the same thing in October. I'm so sorry but just know that it's best for Goldie. Keeping her alive & suffering isn't fair.

I know you know this deep down but it's still hard to really believe. I'm sending so much care your way.

Much love to you and your family. Goldie is a beautiful dog and I can tell that she was a beautiful friend as well. It's always hard to let a loved one go. At least she's happy now and in a place without pain and all the bunnies she could ever want to chase. Because I firmly believe that all dogs go to heaven.

God bless you, your family and Goldie. I echo what Sueleen said; let Goldie know that it is okay. I recently read that dogs, like humans, often hang on for those they love. You are offering her the ultimate love, as she has done for you for so many years.

My Truman is just shy of a year, and I can only hope that he will bless us with 16 more. I am going to give him an extra hug tonight.

Liotte, I'm so sorry to hear this. At least you know Goldie lived a nice, long, full life, and she will not be in pain.

I'm so sorry. I have a dog and I love her so much. It would be unbearable when I lose her.
