Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer!?! That's what the Yahoos at Yahoo think, anyway. All intelligent folks KNOW "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" (Didn't make it) and "White Christmas" (10th!) are tied for first.
Here's Yahoo's list. What a joke!
Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer (1949)
12 Days of Christmas (16th century)
Nutcracker (Suite) (1891)
All I Want for Christmas is You (1994)
Frosty the Snowman (1950)
Jingle Bells (1857)
Silent Night (1816)
Baby It's Cold Outside (194
O Holy Night (1847)
Deck the Halls (19th century)
Winter Wonderland (1934)
White Christmas (1940)
Santa Baby (1953)
Jingle Bell Rock (1957)
Feliz Navidad (1970)
All I Want for Christmas (Is My Two Front Teeth) (1944)
Mary, Did You Know (1984)
Last Christmas (1984)
Where Are You Christmas (2000)
Let it Snow (1945)

At least that wretched "Christmas Shoes" didn't make the list.
when will "dominick the donkey" get the credit it so richly deserves?
Last Christmas? Seriously?
Christ.

That one lept out at me too, Rath. Wham's Gooey Christmas Break up song is better than "Have Yourself..." Or "Merry Christmas Darling"?
What is wrong with people?
12 Days of Christmas?? Everyone I know hates that song.
The songs mocking 12 Day of Christmas are much better than the original by a long shot!
I secretly love Last Christmas. But only the Wham version.
My personal pick is The Christmas Song. How the hell did that not make the list??

"All I Want for Christmas is You (1994)"
#4? Mariah must have called all her relatives and had them vote.
"Baby It's Cold Outside (1948
Nothing like date rape to say "Merry Christmas"
Too bad the Bing Crosby/David Bowie "Little Drummer Boy" didn't make the list.
Yeah, and All I Want For Christmas Is My Two Front Teeth??
over Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas? I mean, R E A L L Y.
actually, i much prefer "baby, it's cold outside" by nick & jessica. no. joke.
I love All I Want for Christmas Is You.

Rath, me too! Though I normally can't stand Mariah, I think it's a terrific song.
Darlene Love is one of my favorite singers, so "Marshmallow World" and "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)" are up there for me (though I prefer U2's version of the latter).
I agree with Gotham re: "The Little Drummer Boy."
No "Christmas Wrapping" by The Waitresses? No "Do They Know it's Christmas?"
"Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)" should SO be on the list, although I don't like the U2 version at all. I prefer Darlene's passionate, powerful version.

According to the NY Post, Rudolph is #1, getting airplay an average of 1109 times a week, mostly by Gene Autry, but also by the Supremes and (Shudder) Jewel.
What is this Donkey song of which you speak?
Top airplay

LOL! Our HS choirs did a Christmas concert every year, and my junior year that song was part of the program. All my friends who were singing it called it The Date Rape Song.
Too bad none of the x-mas songs The Ronettes sang are on that list at least their versions of songs such as "Frosty the Snowman." and "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Clause."

The Yahoo list is of songs, not performances. I would bet the Phil Spector version (Ronettes) of Frosty is the most played.
It's just weird that a lot of my friends think that their versions of x-mas songs are the most famous.

The Plot thickens....When all stations are included (Not just stations playing ONLY Christmas Music) the "Msot-played" list looks quite different:
- According to the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers, the most played Christmas songs on the radio are:
1. "The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire)," Nat "King" Cole
2. "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas," The Pretenders
3. "Winter Wonderland," Eurhythmics
4. "Santa Claus Is Coming to Town," Bruce Springsteen
5. "White Christmas," Bing Crosby
No way, it's that horrible Waitresses song about the convenience store pickup.
